We often acquire underperforming or non-core businesses from larger groups and provide hands-on management until such time as they become profitable and cash generative. Once profitable, each business enjoys a high degree of autonomy with head office involvement limited to agreement of strategic goals, annual budget setting and cash management discussions. Businesses are self sufficient for accounting and administration but share some central functions such as banking, insurance and treasury support. Local management participate in a performance related incentive scheme.
The subsidiary companies share the following characteristics:-
- Strong brand images with intellectual property that we protect
- Focus on design and development functions
- Quality and technically superior products
- Operation in niche markets
The owner of Waterlinks Investments, Sue Watson, also owns Lyle & Scott Limited and Waterlinks Far East.
