We are looking for 2-4 trainees who will be able to hit the ground running, and bring clear thinking and creativity to tricky issues. This is an extraordinary time for local government. We face some of the most demanding financial pressures in known history, yet we also have unprecedented opportunities to change the way in which we do things.
We need individuals who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo, who will bring fresh ideas, and who are willing to work with others to help improve the way we do things. As finance leaders of future, we want you to be actively engaged in problem solving and decision making. We’ll expect a lot of you, but we’ll support you all the way.
Training & Profiles
Our training programme is designed to bring out the best in you. During the three year programme, you’ll be studying for membership of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), or another recognised Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) qualification. We provide a generous package of study leave and flexible study options.
We also believe that it’s essential for future leaders to have hands-on experience and strategic insight. One of the great strengths of our scheme is the wide variety of opportunities to put your learning into practice. You’ll be expected to take on early responsibility and operate as a fully fledged team member. You’ll take on a varied mix of day-to-day work and key projects in all the important finance areas, including financial systems, budget preparation and monitoring, internal audit and accounting.
With the scheme spanning the two Councils, we can offer you flexibility with a core base in either Cambridgeshire or Northamptonshire, and the potential for opportunities across both organisations to further improve your learning experience.
