    Interview process

We had information on what the day would consist of before arriving in order to prepare which had plenty of information and was very beneficial.

Firstly, we started the day of with a short presentation on LHi and what the job entailed.
Then, we had to choose a famous person who inspires us. We we're then given the opportunity to sell our famous person to the group and discuss why we felt that if there was the chance to only save one, who it would.
The second task was interviewing another candidate in the room, asking all the relevant questions and then selling them back to the managers where managers asked questions about why we felt they would be successful in the role.

Following this section the successful candidates (which narrowed down to 5) were then interviewed individually which lasted about 30-40 minutes.

    Most difficult question

Who inspires you. While this wouldn't normally be a difficult question, but as you have already just contributed towards the famous person debate on who should survive, you don't want to use that person again however they were the one which was at the top of my mind.

    Interview tips

Don't be afraid to get involved in the group discussions as the ones who were not successful to the second part were the ones who remained queiter.
Although I wasn't successful in the role it was definitely a worth while experience and the firm seemed to genuinely care about each candidate and really guided me through the interview process.

    Experiences at the assessment centre

There was two group tasks in the interview and the group consisted of about 9 people, 7 males and 2 females. The set up what in the conference room around the desk.

    Interview process

Following initial phone conversations with the recruiter, a face-to-face was arranged with the client company. This interview was a 'traditional' one-to-one format with one of their senior managers. It started off quite informally and we spoke about various aspects of the role and how they related to things I had done at university - mostly the extra curricular stuff. They were interested in the leadership qualities and ability to overcome adversity that these extracurricular activities had given me.

Following the first interview I was invited back after lunch to meet the managing director, and then I was offered the role via my recruiter later that day!

    Most difficult question

    What are your weaknesses?

    Interview tips

Be confident and be yourself. They aren't looking for particular background or personality types, but rather people who are confident and outgoing while being happy in their own skin. Think about times you overcame challenges and adversity, and think about times you have been in a competitive team environment, such as a sports team or something similar.

Brilliant process, met with Adam who asked a few questions to learn a bit more about myself and experiences. Then met with a couple of the senior management team who probed further and really explained what the role would entail and helped me to understand the company and the role that I would be doing.

    Most difficult question

What is it about yourself that gets you out of bed

    Interview tips

Prepare thoroughly, learn about what the company does before hand and have a good think about what you really want out of the job and your career. You will need to make sure you know why you want to work in a meritocracy and why you are prepared and driven enough for the role.

    I had 2 stage interview.

The interviews felt less like an interrogation and more like a conversation about if I would be a good fit for the role both professionally and within the culture of the business.
All members of the team spoke and qualified me for the role, which reflected the team mentality.

    Most difficult question

I didn't have a traditional background for the role as I had just finished a music degree, but they recognise soft skills over experience. so the questions related to that were the most difficult to navigate.

    Interview tips

I feel that the best advice I can give (even though its a bit cliche) is to be yourself when applying for this role. Try and relax and do your research on the company. It's also important to be honest!

First interview was in the London office, for both G2 and Vivid.

Was asked about my CV and motivations as well what kind of person I was outside work/study.

G2 decided to interview me further by way of telephone with a sales manager from the head office.

Progressed to next stage where I was asked to travel to the head office to meet the sales manager who interviewed prior and the director of G2.

The interviews were organised very well and I was continually kept updated by internal recruitment.

    Most difficult question

If I gave you £1000 right now, what would you do it?

    Interview tips

Look at yourself internally as a person before thinking joining as the company is very big on continual learning and self development.

Be prepared for questions which are very probing based on the things you say and what you have done on your CV.

Management can read you like a book. So don’t try and give answers that you think they want to hear.

The telephone interview made me feel very welcome, the recruiter made me feel as if I was able to talk about anything with her. She gave me a breakdown of the company but asked me questions throughout and explained I just had to be myself and I had more of a chance.
The workshop assessment itself however was very hard but very educational. Put us through the right practical tests in order to teach us but also to test us and see our true personalities.

    Most difficult question

Sell someone. We had to sell another candidate who was in the assessment centre alongside us. We had 2 minutes to plan and then present, this was very difficult and involved you needing to think on your feet.

    Interview tips

Be yourself, they love it. It’s not a place where you need to put up a front or be someone you aren’t. The more your personality shined through, the better your chances are. Make sure you’re prepared, understand why you want it, be ready to sell yourself and explain your motivations and what really makes you tick!

    Experiences at the assessment centre

There was a small group so they were able to focus more on us. The staff were very friendly, staff were in and out all day and we got to meet a variety of different people. Absolutely lovely individuals working there. Our tasks were to sell our fellow candidate, sell ourselves, interview the director and then have 1-1 interviews.

I also did an assessment centre we did selling role plays like sell a candidate to a client, like what is good about them, why and i had to go into detail in a mock face-to-face meeting.

    Most difficult question

Assessment centre role plays were difficult, take your time.

    Interview tips

Really think about what is being asked. The internal recruiter gives lots of information and clues out on the way and if you are listening you should be able to provide good answers. Ask open questions to get more information out of the recruiters.

    Interview process

After applying for the recruitment consultant position online, I received a telephone call a few weeks later. It was a quick phone conversation, ultimately asking why recruitment and why the Allegis group in particular.

Following on from this, I was then asked to come to their office for a face to face interview. It was arranged for the following week and a comprehensive interview pack was sent over via email. It was extremely thorough and proved really helpful (it basically told you the dos and dont's if you want to impress and want the role). The member of the recruitment team was really supportive with any further questions or queries I had related to the interview.

The actual interview itself lasted a (record breaking for me) 4 hours, but it flew by! The structure followed a one to one with different employees of the Allegis group. I met about 5 different people in total and all were really lovely. They would each introduce themselves, their role and how they are finding it. They would then ask questions related to my CV, my extra curriculum activities and really try to understand you as a person - including your motivations.

Each person I was interviewed by had different interview tactics, so each experience was different and the difficulty of each interview was diverse. It was a really challenging, but good interview experience.

    Most difficult question

I was given a scenario and I had to work out what the best option/route to take would be, and to explain why i thought that. It required you to think quickly and be confident in your response. The interviewer was extremely positive though and was supportive in my answer.

    Interview tips

Be prepared to really sell your strengths, whilst being yourself - but be realistic and honest. Really understand why you want to work in recruitment, and don't be afraid to say for the money! Learn about the company and research what you think working in recruitment will involve and how you would fit that role.
Follow and stick to the interview preparation pack, it is really helpful!

    Experiences at the assessment centre

In my personal experience, there wasn't an assessment centre, but just a series of one to one interviews.

The interview took place in a relatively relaxed atmosphere; one on one chat around a small table overlooking the sights of London.
Went through my past experiences and was briefed on the 3 main competences of working in recruitment for which I then had to describe how I matched each competency, giving examples from previous experience. Other questions involved why I wanted to work in recruitment and factors that motivated me personally and why.
    The interview lasted around 45mins.

    Most difficult question

The most difficult aspect of the interview was trying to use a range of different examples from previous experience to describe how you demonstrated resilience in a working environment, as it is likely you will experience a number of drawbacks throughout your time in recruitment which you need to be able to pick yourself up from and come back stronger.

    Interview tips

Make sure you present yourself immaculately, both the way you dress and the way you speak; clearly, confidently and concisely.
Make sure you have a very good idea on what the company actually does and why you personally want to work in recruitment compared to other areas of work you have already experienced.

    Experiences at the assessment centre

The interview was simply me and the interviewer sitting around a small table discussing my competences in relation to the job role for roughly 45mins.
