About the Role

Our financial accounting team is responsible for the reporting of Next Retail Ltd—which covers our retail stores, online operations, and Total Platform business. You'll be joining a team that plays a vital role in coordinating month-end reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and more.

As a Trainee Financial Accountant, you'll:

  • Manage inter company recharges and invoicing, ensuring balances are agreed and reconciled.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations across a range of accounts including inter company loans and charities.
  • Liaise with teams across the business to resolve queries and ensure accuracy.
  • Support the monthly management accounts process.
  • Prepare and analyse inter-unit transactions, raise invoices, and work with the Treasury team to process settlements.
  • Assist in reviewing and confirming trades executed with our banking partners.
  • Play a key role in our year-end consolidation and the production of the Annual Report and Accounts.
  • Over time, you'll also gain exposure to budgeting, CSO reporting, and preparing statutory accounts.

About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive, and ready to learn. You don't need to have all the answers—but you do need to be ready to ask the right questions.

  • You're keen to build a career in finance and work towards a professional accountancy qualification (study support included!).
  • A minimum of 12 months working in a Finance based role (we will happily consider candidates with 'placement experience
  • You've got solid Excel skills (think VLOOKUPs and pivot tables) and a sharp eye for detail.
  • You're organised and thrive when managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • You're a confident communicator who enjoys building relationships across teams.
  • You're professional, discreet, and always treat sensitive information with care.
  • Most importantly, you're curious, motivated, and ready to make the most of the opportunities in front of you.
