    Interview process

Firstly, I had a simple phone interview with a recruiter, then I had to take an aptitude. After that, I was invited to the assessment day.

The assessment was held at a hotel in Cardiff. The assessment day began with a brief presentation, roughly 15-20 minutes and in it, they talked about the company, the work that we'll be doing, the training schedule etc. After that, we had a group task which took up most of the day. We had to come up with a product, a business plan and create a website for that product, along with other mini-tasks. In between they held short 1 to 1 technical and personal interview. At the end of the day, we had presented the product to the assessors.

    Most difficult question

the 1 to 1 interview was quite simple just to test problem-solving.

    The questions were:
given this array can you show me how to reverse it?
sort the given classes using an inheritance hierarchy?

    Interview tips

actively participate in the group task and give constant input because that's what you are assessed mostly on. Also, practice presenting if you are not confident at giving presentations to a group of people. finally be yourself, the assessors were very friendly and relaxed.

    Experiences at the assessment centre

The setting was professional and clean.

It was a really relaxed day, they are really friendly, they don't test you but they use the day to see what kind of a person you are and if you will fit in with their company and their values. The one on one was him just trying to know me as a person.
He asked a few questions, not too many, it lasted 10 minutes, My advice is know the company, know their values and know why you want to work there, that is vital.

    Most difficult question

I wouldn't say any other questions where too difficult but describe yourself in 3 words would be the hardest

    Interview tips

Just be yourself, if you fit in you'll know, know the company is a must, don't be over powering but don't be too quiet and just make sure you enjoy the day.
Ask questions, there is no right or wrong answer, make sure you mingle with everyone there and try and be involved with discussion with the current graduates.

A really relaxed day, they give you an introduction, you do a personality test, then individual exercise, then a group exercise then one on one interviews, they are more just seeing how you are as a person though.

Everyone involved in the recruitment process was very friendly; they didn't give any prompts when asking a question though. It was clear that everyone I spoke to enjoys working for the company which was nice to see. The video interview was focused on my motivation behind applying, the telephone interview was lots of info about the scheme and the assessment day was focused on finding out more about company culture and them seeing if I was a good cultural fit and had an aptitude for technology, even though I did not come from a Techy background.

    Most difficult question

Do you think of yourself as a resilient person? Can you provide an example in which you have demonstrated resilience?

    Interview tips

Be yourself, they seem to value honesty and personality. Being a consultancy, I know that they are not only looking for the 'hands on' skills but also a good culture/personality fit, someone that would feel comfortable working in a team.

    Experiences at the assessment centre

There were 2 tests - one multiple choice maths and a technical aptitude test. I had an interview with two managers and spent some time with the Graduate Scheme team too. I was introduced to people currently in the middle of the Graduate Scheme. The day was down to earth and friendly, I learned a lot about the company.

The interview took place at the company's London office, with a senior service manager and a current graduate. The questions were many based on my knowledge of the company, the role and my CV. It was especially important to have an in-depth knowledge of what the company does and competency-based examples taken from elements of your CV.

    Most difficult question

Can you give an example for your CV of when you have displayed our Company's values?

    Interview tips

Show confidence in your interview, it will go a long way. For the assessment center, the day is well organised and nothing out of the ordinary, it's just as much about working out if you want to work for ComputaCenter as them deciding to give you a job and be your best self.

    Experiences at the assessment centre

The assessment centre was over two days, an evening dinner with assessors and graduates with a hotel stay close to the HQ. The morning involved various group and individual exercises with the afternoon involving a presentation, panel interview and a test. Generally, the day was relaxed and you got the feeling that those assessing you genuinely wanted you to do the best possible, everyone was approachable and understanding. There were between 10 - 12 candidates over two days.

    Interview process

I had two face to face interviews. The first one was 40 minutes and was just a case of talking through my CV and talking about my current job and university degree, I was presented a selection of questions based around my personality and how I would deal with different situations.

My second interview was an hour long and the questions were based more around the job role. I had to answer competency questions based on the job I would be doing with the company.

    Most difficult question

'Describe your weaknesses' - This was the hardest question I was presented with, I found it's actually very hard to come to terms with your weaknesses and talk about them to a potential employer. People are always quick to point out their strengths but when the situation is reversed, its not as easy!

    Interview tips

Make sure you read up on the company before the interview, know what its core values are and think about how you are suited to the role and what you can bring to the company. Make sure your personality shines through, my degree wasn't directly related to the role, neither did I have as much experience in it as other candidates, but I was offered the position based on enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

    Experiences at the assessment centre

The assessment centre was located at the company head office. There were around 15 candidates at the assessment centre in my group (although 4 assessment sessions were being held). We participated in a group activity where we were presented with scenarios and had to talk through how to solve them while being observed. The atmosphere was very tense and stressful, with all candidates trying to out-shine one and other. The assessment centre also carried out a quiz that tested our general knowledge about the company and its history.

When I arrived for the morning assessment day (we had a group of 6, then afternoon had a group of 6), we were given packs detailing what Sogeti do, also a sheet with what the day entails with timing. We had two 15 minute interviews set up, one with HR and one with a supervisor which they described as a technical interview. It was an amazing experience, great people so don't ever feel scared. Make them laugh but not to a point where your jokes are lame, keep it professional and always ask about graduate retention, what clients they have etc. They like answering those.

    Most difficult question

Why do you want this job? (believe me, your answer should last you a minute)
What do you know about testing? (describe software testing etc)

    Interview tips

Be yourself, they like friendly approachable type, but also act professional at all times. Also when you are doing the group exercise, whilst you are jotting down on the big piece of paper, always make sure you are giving input and always discussing and arguing as a panel member will be watching you and reviewing your performance.

Make your interviewee laugh, don't stress over the technical questions as they don't expect everyone to know about testing, they are looking more towards people who are themselves, approachable with great customer service and keen to learn.

    Experiences at the assessment centre

After our two 15 minute interviews, we had to sit down for a hour test. This consisted of a scenario where a company requires you to find out errors and list them, whilst also thinking outside the box to overcome those errors. There's an extensive list so attention to detail is a must.

We then had lunch (provided) followed by the afternoon group coming in, joining us for a company presentation. After this, we were split into groups for a group exercise. The group exercise was that we were shipwrecked, and there were 12 items that we can carry and list them in accordance to their importance. Might sound easy but you need to think very hard as when you are doing the presentation in front of a panel with the group, you will be asked as to why this wasn't before that etc.

Overall, brilliant day and a lively bunch of people that work for them.

I applied through a recruiter and they forwarded my details to interroute, soon I had an interview call.

As a standard, the first communication was a phone interview. Within one week I received a call to attend a face to face interview. I had the interview at the Liverpool Street office with one of the senior managers. He was an easy going chap and created an informal atmosphere during the interview as I was very nervous. There were technical skills along with analyst type role questions. At this point I wasn't sure what happened as I applied for a technical role and wasn't really prepared for Business analyst type of questions. Then I raised this question and he said he will interview me on both of these skills and whichever I fit best in, he will put me in that role, provided I was good enough to be selected. I think they had a business analyst role available, may be the one I applied for was gone but they didn't reveal the secret.

    Interview process

The process started with filling in an online application which had standard personal, academic and previous emoployment questions. It took about 25 minutes to fill in the form as at the time I only had my education and personal information to fill in.

Once I got through to the face to face interview, I was given a call to see what day and time the interview was for. The interview was at the Hammersmith office just next to the location. The person that came to interview me was the person that became my manager. He began with asking me what I know about the company and then gave me a brief overview. He asked my compentency questions around my team working skills, group project at university and why did I apply for that particular role.
He then asked me about my technical skills and my interest in learning new skills. The interview lasted for 45 minutes and at the end he left it open for me to ask any questions.

We then started talking about cricket as we both seemed to have an interest and it became a somewhat informal chat.

    Most difficult question

Have you had an ocassion where you were leading a team but people won't listen to you? How did you manage that situation?

    Interview tips

Make sure you ask a lot of questions, even if you sound dumb like what are the office timiings, where will I sit etc. Just ask as many questions as you can, it makes you look thirsty and eager for the role and leaves a good impression. Also make sure you conduct a research on the company like Disney, we always see Disney as cartoons and teddy bears but there is a lot more to it, don't go by the perceptions.

My first interview was a telephone which was about competency question and one or two technical ( but i consider them as general knowledge).
The questions were around cisco products and services, competency, cloud computing, why should we hire you, where do you see yourself in 5 years time etc. we also went through my CV during the interview. At the end there was enough time for me to ask questions about the role and the company.

Once I was past that level, there was a follow up call to arrange a face to face interview. This interview lasted around 3 hours with various members of the team. Various technical questions on general programming problems and networking expertise with a short programming test. Before each member started to interview me, they all gave me brief introduction about their role in the company and the impact they make to the team which i thought was really helpful as I could use those points in my answers.

    Most difficult question

Given an opportunity to change todays internet what would you change?

    Interview tips

Be prepared to answer generic questions as well as know cisco products and services. These will come up during the interview very often. Also you should sound enthusiastic about the job. Part of the The reason I didn't get the job was because I didn't sound enthusiastic enough to the interviewees. But it may have been because i asked all the questions to the HR during the telephone interview. So It may be worth asking those/any questions once again during your second interview, even though you know the answers to them, just so you look curious.

    Interview process

There are two interviews, the first one is more of a discussion about your skills on the CV along with some competency questions and a case study and lasts for 45 minutes. The second round interview is however, includes an in-depth interview of your skills, a presentation on a technical problem.

My first round interview was at Detica's headquarters in Guildford. The team lead himself came to interview me (as the other person wasn't feeling well) and went through the skills that were relevant to his team. Within a week I found that I was coming along for second round interview which was going to be in the coming week.
In the second round interview, there were two people one was a senior consultant and the other one being an ex-graduate. This time they were delving deeper into technical questions to see if I was the best fit for the role. This was then followed by a 20 minutes presentation including 5 minutes for Q&A. I was also given a vague idea on what the team does and how I would fit in it if I were to get this role. Towards the end, they left it open for me to ask any questions that I had.

    Most difficult question

Tell me about a time that you worked conveying technical information to a nontechnical audience. How did you manage it?

    Interview tips

Make sure you know what you have on your CV and sell it as much as you can. There will be questions about the skills you put on your CV and in the second round interview, the interviewers do go into a lot of details. So don't put something on your CV that you are not entirely sure about. At Detica, people look for certain skills to see if you will fit their team.

You are given a training which depends on what team you join, so don't worry if you are not a master. They don't expect you to know everything as a graduate, but you should show that you are passionate enough and eager to learn.
