Applicants get the opportunity to jump into leadership at Severn Trent Water, graduate says.

The Midlands and Wales based water supplier, Severn Trent Water, are looking to make leaders out of graduate applicants as they launch their Business Leadership Programme. A mix of training and hands-on experience gives graduates the skills to form the next generation of innovators at the company.

Tom, a Civil Engineering graduate coming to the end of his time at Severn Trent, says he was attracted to the scheme because of its opportunities for leadership.

"I wanted to be a leader - and Severn Trent's Business Leadership Programme really delivers. It's all about getting hands-on experience, leading teams, managing live projects and taking on a high level of responsibility early on. Before I started I had no idea about the scale of the opportunities available."

Over the course of three different placements, Severn Trent's Business Leadership Programme gives graduates direct control and responsibility over projects-a strategy which Tom finds beneficial.

"The fast-tracked approach to learning is perfect for me; it means I can get stuck into lots of different challenging projects, and frequently take on new projects."
While Severn Trent Water provides graduates with the chance to take on responsibility during each rotation, Tom finds it is up to the person to push themselves and make the most of those opportunities.

"It's definitely up to the individual to drive development here. And the programme is flexible, so you can steer your career in the direction you want it to go. That's something I've benefited from, because I've had a lot of influence and control over my placements and professional goals."

Severn Trent Water's Business Leadership Programme is fast-paced-perfect for graduates eager to prove their leadership potential.
