Finance Assistant

ImpactEd Group

The Organisation

ImpactEd Group exists to support our partners to make better decisions using high quality evidence. The Group consists of 3 discrete, but complementary, business units:

  • ImpactEd Evaluation works with schools and organisations, such as multi-academy trusts and education organisations, to analyse the impact of programmes and interventions to help partners do more of what works and less of what doesn’t.
  • ImpactEd Consulting offers strategic and operational support for its partners, to address challenges and underpin carefully managed growth.
  • The Engagement Platform (TEP) measures school and teacher engagement, to support sustainable working cultures.

The Opportunity

This is a new role in the central team at ImpactEd Group as part of the Operations team. You will be supporting finance processes across all three business units on a wide range of tasks and responsibilities. The team is small and still forming; you will play an important role in bringing our finance function in-house.

This role will suit you if you enjoy being buried in the detail; are comfortable working with MS Office (especially Excel); have experience of using an accounting package or similar (we use Xero) and enjoy creating and improving processes. Your work will cover lots of small tasks that need to be completed as efficiently as possible, for example responding to partner financial queries or bank reconciliation, and bigger projects, such as improving reporting processes; you need to be comfortable switching between both types of work. You will also support employee operations such as booking and paying for travel and elements of event management.

If you want to work to support better use of data across the education sector, we want to hear from you.

About You

We are looking for some of the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others. We encourage candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and do not require specific qualifications. Whether you have a degree or not, returning to work or have recently changed career we would like to hear from you.

  • Experience in keeping financial records and/or a basic understanding of bookkeeping; being comfortable with numbers and Excel is essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills, and enjoy setting up and rigorously following processes, as well as updating tracking systems, and planning ahead.
  • Independent and resourceful worker, able to take responsibility for finding your own solutions and managing your own workstreams and deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with high quality and accurate outputs, and able to sense check your own work.
