As soon there is even a glimmer of sun peeking through the curtains, we are all instantly dreaming about hot weather and laying by the beach. While the BBQs might already be booked and the summer clothes bought, have you considered applying for a summer internship?

Work experience is one of the most crucial parts of getting a graduate job when you finish university. Employers often look for experience in the industry you are applying for on your CV and internships and placements are a great way to gain that experience.

Nuclear Safety Engineering - Summer Internship

You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Health Physicists, Engineers and Human Factors specialists working together to ensure that their operations remain safe. You’ll spend 12 weeks learning about the role Safety Engineering has to play in the company. You’ll have to get your head around a lot of different factors to spot where the weaknesses might lie. So, you’ll be learning about everything from production and manufacturing, to project management, design and safety. You may be working on projects within the commercial Marine sector, or refits for submarines or warships for the Royal Navy.

Audit Internship (Public & Social Sectors) - July 2023

As an audit intern, you will be part of a team responsible for completing about 500 limited assurance audits of small local authorities (primarily parish councils). You will be trained and closely supervised by an experienced Audit Manager and all your work will be reviewed by the Audit Manager and Partner. The clients are managed remotely but you will have regular contact with them on the phone, by e-mail and by letter so you must be a strong communicator.
