Company Company Profile

Established in 1590, Berenberg is one of Europe’s leading privately-owned banks. With a strong presence in the financial centres of London, New York and Frankfurt our 1,600 employees carry the bank’s long tradition of success into the future.

Berenberg has an excellent reputation based on first-class performance, and although the company has a long history it remains entrepreneurial in its approach. A combination of the meritocratic culture and flat hierarchy enables talent to flourish and progress at Berenberg.

What we do

Berenberg has been the biggest share gainer in European equities over the last 10 years. Our business is competitive, and regulation is acting as a constant headwind. We have grown despite these challenges thanks to our clear vision and the hard work of the people at Berenberg. We see ourselves as challengers, and disruptors. The fact that we are privately owned allows us to take a longer-term view. Our approach is very simple – we ask our analysts to write moneymaking, thought-provoking research, and we expect everyone in the firm to focus on client service. The key to this approach is our people. We like to work with those in research, sales, trading and equity capital markets who have a real passion for companies and markets. We also want to develop our own talent from the bottom up, which is why we put huge emphasis on our graduate programme. The quicker we can genuinely empower junior talent, the stronger we are as a business.
