I joined the TTI Graduate Leadership Programme in February 2021 as a Field Marketing Executive (FME) working with the industry leading professional solutions brand Milwaukee.

In my first year, I developed a multitude of skills through practical on-the-job training as well as in-depth external courses, including presentation skills, negotiation, and sales training days. This role provided me with so many opportunities, ranging from managing my own accounts across the South Coast and business development, to attending large national industry events to represent the brand.

After 14 months as an FME, I progressed into a leadership role as the FME Supervisor for the South UK team. This new role has presented me with many learning opportunities, and I am really enjoying the greater responsibilities. I manage and train the team, as well as assisting National Account Managers in multiple channels in a variety of capacities.

Training & Profiles

What we offer?

Enjoy challenging experiences, vast opportunities and first-class training. You really do get out what you put in!

Our Graduate Leadership Programme in Sales and Marketing is designed to find the next generation of business leaders.

We are currently recruiting graduates nationwide as Field Marketing Executives for Milwaukee.

In this entry level position, we are looking for graduates from any degree discipline – with or without experience of our industry - who relish the responsibility and autonomy to organise and manage their own territory-based roles. Here you will have the opportunity to work for an aspiring brand with vast range of product categories.

No day is the same and as you harness the popularity of the Milwaukee brand, you will take the opportunity to foster relationships, grow sales, educate stakeholders, conduct hands-on demonstrations, merchandise, support major events/conferences and develop positive brand awareness.

As you learn the grass roots of our Milwaukee business and get under the skin of our brand, full and comprehensive product and developmental sales and marketing training and on the job mentoring, will soon get you up to speed (you will be amazed how quickly) and give you the confidence to deal with our customers and suppliers. You will also have the support of a large team of others graduates in similar roles and great team camaraderie and cohesion.

Application Procedure

We will invite you to complete a screening form – where you will answer some key questions (typically about your skills and experiences) and upload your CV. If you meet our criteria at this stage, we will ask you to complete a video interview and if successful, we will invite you to attend our two-day face to face assessment centre. In advance of the centre – you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have at our one-hour virtual engagement session.

We have received some excellent feedback on our recent Assessment Centre:

“Amazing, well organised, informative and a great experience. It gave a great idea of the FME role”.

“The assessment centre is one of the best things I have ever participated in. It was eye opening to the full potential of the organisation”.

“I had the chance to speak with Milwaukee employees between tasks which was great. It allowed me to really get a feel for the culture”.

“A 5* Assessment Centre, I really enjoyed myself”.

What degree do I need?

A degree in business, sales, marketing or engineering is highly relevant. However, we invite applications from graduates with any degree subject with a 2:2 or above.

I do not have much knowledge of the industry - should I still apply?

If you have knowledge of our industry and what we do, that's great, but we also strongly encourage those who are practically minded with a can-do attitude and want to develop sales and marketing skills to apply. We are looking to build a diverse group of graduates with a range of transferable skills as future business leaders.

What skills are you looking for?

You will need to be a confident communicator, who has a positive, can-do attitude and a drive to achieve results. You will be representing our brands across different channels and as such, building relationships with our customers, suppliers and trade channels, generating sales and demonstrating our products. You will need to have an organised approach to structuring your day and your appointments. You will work independently but will be very much part of a wider graduate team. You will take a pride in your work and our brand.

Will I receive feedback if my application is unsuccessful?

If you attend one of our assessment centres, then if requested, we will provide you with feedback which we hope you will find useful. Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback if your application is unsuccessful at the first stages.

Where will I be based?

Our entry-level graduate Field Marketing Executive roles are territory-based, and we will ask you to apply for a specific location(s). You will be working from home and expected to travel within your region for which a branded company van and fuel card will be provided.

Will I be working alone?

The role of FME is territory-based and you will be out and about meeting your customers and key accounts on a day to day basis. Whilst you work alone on your accounts and your home is your base, you will have regular and daily support of a supervisor and a wide and inclusive team of graduates all undertaking the FME role. There will be regular meet up points during weekly virtual meetings, training sessions, conferences, events and exhibitions. You will never feel totally on your own and support is not far away!

Which division within Milwaukee may I be assigned as part of the FME role?

Based upon your location and availability within the division, you can be assigned to any of Milwaukee’s product divisions.

Do all graduates spend the first part of their career as an FME?

All graduates who join us as Milwaukee Field Marketing Executives will spend approximately 18-24 months learning our business by undertaking this pivotal role which requires you to visit customers, clients and sites in one of our branded vans. We believe that this is the best way for you to develop the core skills you’ll need to progress your career and to really get under the skin of the Milwaukee brand.

When and how will I be promoted?

Promotion is based on your own success and results in the role. We promote from within and promotion will depend on results, but also business opportunity. Positions are advertised internally, providing opportunities for all employees to apply. Recent graduates have moved into a variety of roles such as Marketing, Supervisor of the FME team, National Account Management, Product and Trade Marketing, Digital Marketing and Area Sales Management.

What training will I receive on the Graduate Leadership Programme?

Soon after joining the Graduate Leadership Programme, you will attend one of our training centres where you will be given an in-depth knowledge of our products. Whatever level of prior awareness you have, you will soon start to become an expert with our products.

Throughout the programme there are then specific training days to improve the skills you will need in your role and for your wider career development, such as sales skills, negotiation skills and presentation skills.
