Variety is the spice of life at Lloyd's

Lloyd's of London continues to reinvent the insurance industry as they launch their Graduate Programme for 2016 intake.

Lloyd's of London is transforming the insurance industry by offering graduates unique insights into the field through exposure to various aspects of their work. The firm has a reputation for specialised insurance, providing coverage on everything from David Beckham's feet and Keith Richards' fingers, to space shuttles and works by the old masters.

Variety is a big part of working at Lloyd's, and graduates joining their Graduate Programme can expect to be immersed in it. Alexander Holcroft says the opportunity to experience so many departments is the reason he applied to the market.

"I was looking through a lot of graduate schemes, but what finally sold me on Lloyd's programme was the variety," he says. "I didn't know a great deal about insurance to be honest, so the huge range of placements on the programme seemed the perfect way to get to grips with the industry."

Active in the insurance industry since the 17th century, Lloyd's has built a solid company foundation. Stuart Dee, a Politics graduate from the University of Bath, says it was Lloyd's reputation which attracted him.

"It's a world-renowned company with an incredibly rich history, and I'm glad to say it lived up to that reputation when I joined," he says.

Graduates on the programme are not only joining a respected firm, but a global one as well-which brings opportunities to travel abroad.

"Because Lloyd's has a global presence the opportunities you get are global too," Stuart says. "My job now is to develop Lloyd's trading rights and expand our presence overseas. My role is mostly focused on India and Turkey, so I've been able to travel quite a lot."

"I just don't think you'd get opportunities like that with most organisations."
