Company Company Profile

At the FCA we aim to protect everyone that uses financial services by working to ensure that businesses put their customer at the heart of their business model and that they act with integrity and fairness.

This includes looking at the behaviour of firms as diverse as banks to pension providers, insurers to payday lenders or debt brokers, and confronting poor conduct that could lead to the wrong outcome for consumers of financial services.

It’s a critical role. We have wide-ranging powers to tackle problems in the markets we regulate. We can stop people entering the market, or change their permission to do business, we can take supervisory action against firms and sectors, we can intervene at the market wide level with our competition powers and when necessary, take enforcement action.

It adds up to a dynamic and challenging place to work, where your contribution will really make a difference. What we do directly affects thousands of businesses and millions of people. This really is a career where you can help shape what happens next.

Working for the FCA is as challenging as it is rewarding. We have a responsibility to protect the integrity of the financial markets, to protect consumers and to make competition work for them too. Our work influences the day-to-day running of a huge variety of firms, from global corporations to small high-street businesses – we need to understand and communicate with them all. And much of what we do comes from decisions made in Europe and internationally, so our voice has to be heard globally in an environment that is constantly evolving.

We’re interested in meeting undergraduates and graduates from all backgrounds and walks of life, across all subjects, for our graduate and summer internship programmes. But we don’t just want people with the right qualifications; we need people with the right characteristics for our culture, such as backbone, professional excellence and curiosity.

We believe that developing our people makes us better at what we do, which in turn benefits the consumers of all types we exist to protect. So we make learning a priority and a key part of our offer. Through the FCA Academy we support everyone in achieving their aspirations, including offering specific programmes that inspire onward progression into more senior leadership positions.

Think you’re up to it? Do you have the passion, focus and confidence that we’re looking for? If so, you could be in line to carve out a career as a future leader in our organisation and the wider industry.
