Introducing Aviva

We’re here to protect our 34 million customers from life’s unexpected twists and turns. Our purpose is to free them from fear of uncertainty. Providing first-class insurance, retirement health and investment products, we make a difference to people, businesses and communities around the world. That gives us a unique competitive advantage too – we are one of only a few in the world to offer this. And we’ve got big ambitions for the future.

Global Graduate Leadership Programme

We’ve got big plans for our future. We want to build a stronger, more sustainable business and become the most recommended name in the market. To do that, we need ambitious and determined leaders. Leaders who inspire us to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. Future leaders like you. And that’s where our Global Graduate Leadership Programme comes in.

About the programme

Aviva’s Global Graduate Leadership Programme will give you a broad experience of our whole business as you move across projects, teams and functional areas, locally, regionally and globally through three 12 month assignments. Getting to grips with our products and how they’re distributed, learning how our global markets operate, leading your own team under the guidance of a mentor; the exposure you gain throughout the three rotations will allow you to do more, learn more and become more. It’s a chance to discover your strengths too, because after each rotation, your line manager will measure your performance against objectives, who alongside your business champion will offer you guidance and advice, and determine your next 12 month project to ensure you continue to develop.

The rotations

On your first rotation, you’ll get to grips with market based functions like Sales, Distribution and Product in your home country, discovering how we deliver the products and services that have helped to make us industry leaders. On rotation two and three you’ll join either a central team, possibly in your home country or overseas, and take on real responsibility in everything from HR to IT to Marketing, or prove your leadership skills as you head up a local or international team under the guidance of a senior mentor. Each year your performance will be assessed against your peers and once you’ve successfully completed the full three years of the programme, you’ll be offered a leadership role.

About you

With opportunities in all areas of the business, you don’t need a specific degree. Whatever you’re studying and wherever your passions lie, as long as you’re expecting a 2.1 or above (or the equivalent, for example GPA 2.5 and above), have the ambition to lead at the highest levels and the drive to make an impact on the future of a growing business, we’d like to hear from you. You will need the propensity to work with different cultures and the flexibility to move globally, though. And if you’re multi-lingual, then that’s all the better. Joining us, your future is in good hands.

Apply

We’re looking for enthusiastic, ambitious, dynamic graduates to join our Global Graduate Leadership Programme. Graduates with the genuine aspiration to develop the skills that will equip you for leadership roles. Training & Profiles

When you join the programme, you’ll take part in our global induction event which will give you a chance to meet other graduates and gain a better understanding of what we do and how we do it. You’ll be given an introduction to Aviva, our strategy, markets and business, and we’ll tell you what we’re expecting from you as a graduate. We’ll also give you an overview of our culture and business etiquette so that you know what to expect.

Throughout the programme we’ll give you all the support you need to continuously learn, develop and apply your expertise. You’ll have access to a wide range of learning including technical training, personal effectiveness and leadership courses, corporate responsibility opportunities and industry recognised qualifications to support your development. The specifics of your training will depend on which business area you are assigned, you can read more about this on each of the business area pages on graduates.aviva.com

Throughout the programme we’ll provide you with all the support you need to achieve your potential and set your ambitions free. That means there will always be someone you can go to with any queries you may have, and you’ll also be provided with ongoing feedback which will help you to develop further.

Buddy

We know how daunting it can be to join a new company. And we also know that you’ll probably have lots of questions. So when you start with us, you’ll be allocated a buddy who will show you the basics and get you to grips with how we do things. Your buddy will be your go-to person for all of your initial queries. And they’ll inform you of everything you need to know - from the best place to get lunch to how to use the photocopier.

Line manager

You’ll also be assigned a line manager for each rotation who will manage you from a work perspective and drive your development.

Mentor

In addition to your line managers, you’ll also be mentored throughout the programme by an assigned business champion. Your mentor will advise you in terms of rotation and provide you with a fresh prospective about all areas of the programme.

Our people are integral to our success. That’s why we make sure we make the most of their talent, providing them with the support and training they need to reach their full potential and then surpass it. Because, like our people, we want to excel at what we do. We want to be the most recommended company in our market, and the most popular employer too.

Friendly. Supportive. Collaborative. Our culture is all of these things and more. We want our people to be proud to work here. And we want them to be proud to recommend us to their friends and family. It’s all part of our plan to become the leader of the industry.

We’ve put together a series of questions and scenarios that will help you get a sense of whether you share our values. You can take a look at these questions at graduates.aviva.com
