We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the position of Safety, Health & Wellbeing Graduate.

To gain an understanding and experience of safety, health and wellbeing application and management within the Company. This is to enable the continuity and productivity of the plants in a safe, healthy, and sustainable way via completion of the Forterra Graduate Programme and on the job training. The role has an extraordinarily strong safety bias.

This position will be involved in providing support and direction to operational management to maintain our ISO45001 management systems and legal compliance for site manufacturing and distribution activities, as well as assisting and influencing our behavioural based safety programme (Road Map to Zero Harm). The role holder will play an active part in driving improvement of both central systems and site application of them, linked to the development of business plans, the design and delivery of key processes and fulfilling the strategic objectives of the operational areas.

Your duties would include but not limited to the following;

To gain management responsibility experience through a series of secondments on key Forterra sites over a period of 2 years, the role includes but is not limited to:

  • Learning and reporting how the groups management systems operator from the Factory Floor to Strategic Management Level.
  • Playing a key part in the implementation of key H&S projects and working towards fulfilling the objectives of the operational sites.
  • It is expected that the Graduate will complete business projects throughout the process implementing the knowledge and experience gained during the placements.

About you;

  • The ideal candidate will need to be a recent graduate having studied a specific health and safety qualification
  • A problem-solving mentality, to assist in creating complaint solutions to issues
  • Be proactive and take accountability for any projects and tasks assigned
  • Tenacious and resilient, to deal with the challenges presented
  • Possess good people skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
  • Strong presentation skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with staff at all levels
  • Excellent general IT skills plus the ability to assist with the operation and management of our electronic integrated management system
  • Full driving licence and the ability to travel to various sites across the UK
