About the programme

Rosyth is home to our Liquid Gas Equipment (LGE) business and our commercial gas handling operations. Babcock’s LGE business is a world leader in the delivery of customer focused solutions for the transportation and storage of liquefied gas in the marine environment. Our end-customers include major worldwide shipyards and ship owners.

On this graduate programme, you’ll be responsible for innovative design work in support of winning and delivering large scale process-engineering themed projects.

You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business and in industry, giving you the opportunity to develop both technically and commercially.

You’ll immediately be owning and delivering elements of live project work, with the close support and supervision of an experienced and skilled team. It is a fast paced, exciting and rewarding programme.

Control, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering LGE at Babcock

You’ll successfully develop and define the equipment required to safely control and monitor an array of cutting-edge industrial systems, processes and machinery that is increasingly operating in a digitally connected world.

Safety, quality and innovation will be central to everything you do. You’ll influence safe product design through the application of robust processes and design techniques.

Marine gas handling plants are safety critical systems and you’ll have the opportunity to influence design input on an array of project deliverables through tasks such as; engineering calculations, electrical equipment specification and instrumented systems design; report and operating manual creation; HAZID and HAZOP safety workshop participation; process logic and software development including graphical user interfaces; technical drawing pack creation; customer collaboration.

You can also help shape digitally focused solutions that drive process plant efficiencies and uptime.

What you'll need

  • A BEng Hons degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is essential.
  • Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for. For our early careers roles, you must be able to achieve BPSS and many of them require you to be eligible for Security Clearance.

Where you'll be based

Places on our Control, Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering LGE programme for Autumn 2024 are available in our Marine sector in Rosyth. We ask our graduates to be flexible as there is the potential to undertake placements in other locations during their programme.

Your home base will be our Rosyth facility, however some of your placements may be at other locations. We ask that you be ready and willing to move to other sites throughout your programme.
