UX Designer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Ecommerce & Multi Channel Team as a User Experience Designer. As UX Designer, you will be tasked with designing and implementing simple, optimised user journeys across all customer touchpoints.

Reporting directly to the UX Manager, you will work closely as part of a specialist team working alongside the Senior UX Designer to ensure the coherent delivery of Matalan?s optimisation and development roadmaps to support the growth of the business and helping Matalan to meet its digital ambitions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong design skills with a focus on user centred design and will be accountable for wire framing and designing A/B experiments, coding and building them where necessary.

UX Designer - The role

  • Design and deliver optimised and engaging digital user experiences for our customers
  • Execution of the UX strategy in line with group brand stories and creative direction
  • Work with external optimisation agencies to produce on-going site performance improvements via A/B and MVT test programmes
  • Code and develop multiple experiences and measure their performance against business KPI?s
  • Demonstrate continuous improvements through web analytics performance measurement; reduced page loads, bounce rates etc.
  • Design device specific user experiences in line with trading E&M-commerce calendars
  • Measure the effectiveness of all customer-facing digital content and implement improvement plans
  • Implement processes for monitoring the effectiveness of web content across different digital channels, making recommendations for on-going improvements
  • Ensure that digital KPI?s are understood by business stakeholders and used appropriately
  • Ensure all design aspects of digital channels are delivered utilising latest industry standards and best practice including responsive design and W3C standards
  • Liaise with the regional marketing team to execute in store support via digital channels
  • Work closely with the Group Design and Brand teams to ensure E2E channel consistency

UX Designer - The Candidate:

  • Relevant commercial experience or educated to degree level in a web design / UX related subject
  • Experience with Sketch, Dreamweaver, Photoshop or similar
  • Coding experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript / JQuery
  • Proactive team player with excellent communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Hard working and flexible attitude
  • Creative approach - demonstrates ?out the box? thinking
