Unilever Future Leaders Programme – Supply Chain

Salary: £30,000 + benefits + Bonus
Location: Nationwide
Start date: ASAP
Sectors: Distribution & Logistics, Engineering, Management

Unilever is one of the largest fast-moving consumer goods companies in the world. We make some of the world’s most loved brands: Dove, Lynx, PG Tips, Ben & Jerrys, Marmite, Magnum, Persil and Hellmann’s, to name a few. Getting a delicious ice cream like Magnum into the hands of a consumer in the right condition at the right time and price takes serious business expertise. Supply Chain Management is responsible for the whole process, from sustainably sourcing the raw materials to ensuring a great product reaches the supermarket shelf in perfect quality and affordable cost. The breadth and depth of influence this function has makes it key to how we realise our vision to build a brighter future for our world.

What will I be doing?

You could be finding a new way to get ice cream across the desert in an energy-efficient way without it melting; transforming the way the world’s largest deodorants factory operates; or designing how to use big-data and the latest technology to optimise the flow of our products sustainably to our customers. There’s always a new challenge to tackle and we believe first-hand experience is the fastest way to learn. Our people have the opportunity to make a big impact every day on a local level, across Europe and the globe.

What do we look for?

Whichever area you work in – Procurement, Planning, Customer Service & Logistics, Manufacturing or Engineering & Technology – you’ll need to demonstrate strong analytical skills, be a proven team player, geographically mobile and have the ability to think both quickly and strategically in order to make the best decisions to influence our future supply chain. The minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree and you’ll need a strong background in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing or similar engineering qualification.

What will the programme involve?

The three-year, world-class development programme is packed with variety and challenge, with the opportunity of promotion to manager level after 2 years. You’ll develop your individual leadership skills by working on live projects which offer you all the experience you need to become ready for your first management role. Within three years you’ll cover a variety of placements, including an international placement in one of our Supply Chain hubs. We’ll make sure you gain experience across a number of our key business areas:

• The Planning team, either based in Head Office, a sourcing unit, or our international hubs.
• A factory placement, where you will learn world- class manufacturing systems.
• A customer service role in Head Office working directly with our external customers.
• A supervisory placement where you will receive early first-hand experience leading a team of operators and engineers within one of our production units.
• A project role which will see you take on a variety of challenges.

First-hand experience – it’s the fastest way to learn. The Unilever culture is varied, friendly and encourages innovative thinking. We will push and support you to achieve your potential, whilst giving you the chance to shape your career path according your own interests, strengths and ambitions.
