A Graduate Scheme that combines technology and travel? Join the World of TUI

We’re a tour operator. We’re an airline. We’re a cruise business. We’re a retailer. We’re a financial services provider. We’re an analytics house. We’re online driven. We’re award winning. We are the world’s largest integrated travel business.

TUI UK & Ireland is the UK’s largest tour operator with key brands including Thomson, First Choice and Thomson Cruises. With a team of 13,300 employees, it serves more than 5.2 million customers each year. Join our 2 year IT Graduate Leadership Programme and you’ll play an active role supporting our diverse business operation and develop your career in IT.

Are you a dynamic, ambitious, high achiever with the potential to become one of our IT leaders of the future? If the answer is yes then we can’t wait to hear from you.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the innovative and dynamic IT department at TUI UK & Ireland, where you will be part of the world’s largest integrated leisure travel organisation. TUI provides you with a chance to use technology to build a personalised, digital experience for our customers; our graduates will develop IT & management skills, whilst gaining exposure to key business areas throughout an industry leading organisation.

What you will be doing

Over a 2 year development programme you’ll rotate across four different roles within IT including Portfolio Management, IT Security, Service Delivery and Software Engineering. The role could support many aspects of our business operations whether it’s our retail stores and websites, the aircraft we fly, cruise ships we sail, or overseas operations. Our programme provides you with a solid foundation in the core elements of IT, ready for you to build upon as you progress and create your career path at TUI.

You’ll begin with a thorough induction with your fellow graduates across all programmes; following this you will start to build up a solid understanding of processes and systems across the function you are placed in. The programme benefits from ongoing graduate development workshops where you will learn how to be an effective leader, key project management skills and how to present with impact. There are numerous training opportunities and you’ll also have support from Buddies and Mentors.

You will work on live projects gaining professional experience in Project Management/Business Analysis, IT Security, IT Development/Testing and Service Support. If that wasn’t tempting enough, you’ll go ‘back to the floor’ at several points during the programme – you’ll spend time in our key business and customer facing areas such as retail and in-resort operations – giving you the chance to appreciate our customer journey.

Depending on your role and personal interests you will be given the opportunity to gain at least two IT qualifications; in the past these have included Comptia Security +, Advanced Project Management (APM), BCS Business Analysis Diploma and ITIL. Your placements will be wide-ranging and allow you to understand and appreciate the full IT end-to-end lifecycle. After 2 years you will have the opportunity to specialise in an IT discipline of your choice.

The Programme features placements in the following areas:

IT Engineering

The IT Engineering function is responsible for the end to end delivery of business requirements including solution design, development, testing, and release management.

IT Portfolio Management

The project management practice delivers the business and IT change agenda, interacting with the rest of the business and other IT functions throughout the full software project management lifecycle, from working with the business on the requirements, helping to design, build and test the technological solutions, managing stakeholders in addition to ensuring the software can be operationally supported once live.

Service Delivery

IT Service Delivery enables the effective delivery of IT services and operations. The team provides the control and support for Production IT environments and the contracts underpinning them.

Information Security

Information Security sits within out ‘IT Office’ function, which is all about governance of the entire IT function, ensuring that components of the department work well together and are aligned to the business.
