About the Role:
As a Test & Development Industrial Placement you will work within a small design group and a larger lab test group. Test & Development has a very broad remit, and you will get the opportunity to support in the design and delivery of projects for the equipment used to test and sign off car components and set up and run the F1 car at the track. You will be working with 3D CAD models, assemblies and produce 2D drawings, with supporting definitions and documentations for manufacturing information. There will be the opportunity todiscuss technical concepts and find solutions to problems by applying your interpretive skills, attention to detail and dependable judgment. We are looking for engineers who are interested and passionate about reaching their full potential and are excited about constantly learning and developing. Flexibility in hours and approach is required, along with a ‘can do’, ‘team-playing’ attitude and the ability to work to strict deadlines under minimal supervision.
Successful candidates will have:
Essential:
- At least one year left on your studies at the time of taking up the placement in July 2024.
- A strong academic background in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- High motivation and a can-do attitude is essential to keep up with the fast-paced nature of this role.
- Confident in hand calculations to support designs prior to potential FE work.
Desirable:
- CAD experience.
- Experience with 3Dx and FEA.
- Have contributed to the continuous improvements of being in a racing team.
- Has taken part in extracurricular activities, for example; volunteer work, part of a sporting team or play a musical instrument at a high level.

Recruitment timings and process:
Typically, our Industrial Placements are for a thirteen-month period starting in July 2024.
All assessments in the recruitment process are in English: this is the primary language used within the organisation and you need a good level of written and spoken English in the Industrial Placement role.
