Technical Internship

This is where you belong

Bring your STEM skills to MI5's technical internship programme and you won’t just be working alongside our best tech minds on unique projects as a member of a real team. You’ll also find an environment where you feel at home, with colleagues who encourage you to voice your opinions, put forward ideas and simply be yourself. In short, you’ll discover a place where you truly belong.

What do we Offer?

This 11-week programme offers you a great opportunity to improve your skills on a range of challenging technical projects with a meaningful purpose – to keep UK communities safe. Technology’s at the heart of everything we do, so you’ll get hands-on with tasks that have a positive impact on people’s lives in one of these London-based technical teams:

  • Business Analysis
  • Covert Technical Operations
  • Software Engineering
  • Information Architecture
  • UX Design

It’s about being a valued member of the team, sharing knowledge and solving problems to develop world-beating solutions. But most of all, it’s about being yourself. So, although you’ll be working with – and learning from – some of the best technical minds in the UK, you’ll find they’re remarkably down-to-earth and keen to learn from you, too. And if you prove yourself, we may offer you a place on our graduate programme after your degree.

What you need

You’ll be in your penultimate year of a STEM-related degree and a confident communicator, with a passion for tech, basic computer skills and the ability to solve complex problems. With the ability to live and work in London for 11 weeks, you’ll enjoy the scope to prove your abilities in an atmosphere designed to bring out the best in you.

At MI5 diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve.
