Growth, Environment and Transport

Ambitious graduates will thrive at Kent County Council. Our profession-based graduate programme is how the brightest become the best at what they do. This two-year opportunity focuses on infrastructure and planning. That means working to achieve sustainable growth so there’s a better future for everyone to look forward to. For you, this will also mean a permanent role within our Strategic Planning and Infrastructure team.

Together, we’ll look to coordinate responses to Local Plans, strategic planning applications and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. For you, this means a wide range of duties. You’ll help us to balance the competing demands of enabling infrastructure delivery and supporting positive economic and housing growth, while also preserving and enhancing the environment. You’ll learn about providing a county-wide, long-term picture of planned growth and infrastructure, while also developing the skills and insight you need to support, manage and, in time, lead a variety of essential Council functions.

It’s a role that will involve working both on your own and in close collaboration with senior colleagues. You’ll discover there’s a strong emphasis on personal and professional development and you’ll have the opportunity to study for a project management apprenticeship qualification (Level 4 – Associate Project Manager).

About you

Innovative thinkers who see the bigger picture and have a fresh perspective are what we need. What you’ll bring to the equation is a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a planning or a related environmental discipline.

We need people who can communicate effectively. Organisers who work to the very best of their abilities. You will make a difference by building strong foundations that span IT, analytical and problem-solving skills and will have a positive, think-what’s-possible approach that speaks up when it can and listens and learns all it can.

Come to Kent and go far. Find out more and apply…
