ANT Industries, based in Atherstone, Warwickshire, is a highly motivated company specialising in high quality precision machining for the Aerospace, Automotive, Power, Marine and Petrochemical Industries. We provide a complete service from design through to finished product. Our philosophy is for the continuous improvement of customer satisfaction through improved quality and efficiency. We offer a range of precision machining, turning, milling and grinding operations; all housed in a modern factory, covering approximately 26,000 sqft of manufacturing area.
This is an exciting opportunity for a software engineer to support the development of a brand new autonomous production planning and scheduling system. The new system will be developed and implemented directly into ANT Industries’ production operations therefore offering a unique handss on opportunity to work directly with the business leadership team and support the optimisation of their current business processes. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive individual to manage this project, helping the company to increase performance from both an operational and financial standpoint.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Communicate with colleagues to understand how the business works.
•Collect data and identify other related processing information.
•Develop process mapping and logic diagrams for the current business workflow.
•Develop and code an autonomous production planning and scheduling software including heuristic optimisation algorithms.
•Collect and interpret data, write reports, and make actionable recommendations.
•Work with the Company works manager and the general director to develop efficient simulation solutions.
•Other duties, projects or activity as requested by the Company which may arise from time to time.
Technical knowledge and qualifications
This role requires the individual to have the following essential skills:
•Full understanding of the Agent-Based approach.
•Professional in Object Oriented Programming Languages such as JAVA, C# and/or C++ (preferred JAVA).
•Professional in the Excel-Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language.
•Experience in Structured Query Language (SQL).
•Experience in software integration technologies such as ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) and/ or Data Access Objects (DAO).
•Good understanding of probability theory (distribution fitting)
•Good knowledge of analysis and interpretation of results
•Good technical written and verbal communication skills
Desirable skills include:
•Good knowledge of manufacturing operations management
•Experience of developing flowcharts and other visual process mapping diagrams
•Experience with any other special purpose simulation software
•Knowledge of discrete event simulation approach
This role requires the individual to have the following qualifications:
•Degree level qualified (software engineering/ development)
•Postgraduate level qualified (software engineering/ development)
