SMi Group –Graduate Defence Telesales Executive



The SMi Group, one of the world’s leading conference and event organisers, is looking for a talented graduate telesales executive to join the defence business.

The role:


This position will require the successful candidate to identify and contact senior military and industry decision makers and present them the benefits and advantages of attending SMi’s defence conferences. The focus is therefore to contact prospects over the phone, convey the value propositions of each event and persuade the person to attend the event/close the sale! 


This is a high tempo and phone based role that will be ideal for someone who is a natural born sales professional capable of having intelligent conversations with c-level executives and presenting value based opportunities relating to conference attendance.


The candidate must not be phone shy and will need to enjoy cold calling as well as contcating existing and inbound leads. If you are looking to sell market leading products and are hungry to make money, this could be the ideal opportunity for you!


The candidate:


  1. A real desire to get into sales and work at a dynamic and growing conference business
  2. Strong communication skills
  3. Good administrative skills (to manage leads, pipeline and report upwards)
  4. Hungry to learn value based sales methodology 
  5. Driven to succeed in a commercial events organisation
  6. Ability to work with within a team to deadlines
  7. Will work well under pressure and be driven to hit set metrics and targets
  8. Driven by making money and being successful

What the role involves:


  1. This role is within a fast growing company, so it is important that you are looking for a career in sales
  2. To effectively sell to senior decision makers on the phone/ by email and close them in the shortest time possible
  3. To display a high level of ability in objection handling and negotiation
  4. Meeting and exceeding weekly and monthly targets
  5. Market research to identify new leads - hunter instinct to uncover new business
  6. Liaise with production, marketing, sales and event management as well as externally with clients to deliver a consistent message for each event
  7. Attend and contribute to weekly sector meetings and event handover meetings.

Requirements:


  1. Confident communicator both over the phone and in writing
  2. The ability to resolve problems and disputes with clients and arrive at decisions which allow the business to move forward
  3. Experience in the use of databases
  4. Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
  5. Account management/account planning
  6. Solid research skills
  7. Excellent command of written and spoken (business) English
  8. Highly motivated and proactive with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation

 


Salary: Up to £23,000 + performance based commission
