SPL Components are looking to recruit a new member of staff to join our expanding team.

To be considered for this role, some customer service experience would be essential, and any engineering or mechanical background would be a huge advantage. You will need to possess excellent IT skills and a keen eye for detail. Most importantly, the successful candidate will be highly determined, enthusiastic and driven to succeed.

SPL have two offices, one in Leeds and one in Burscough. This role will be based in Burscough. The role is specific to the office equipment manufacturer and we have a production facility within Her Majesty's Prison service, the role will undertake the task of receiving customer orders, ordering supplies, and liaising with the team to put production requirements into the facility. Visits to the working prison are part of the role, audits, checks and company representation means you will need to drive, have a vehicle and diversify based on the requirements of the company. You will work with a Manager of the Company to learn and support his role. This is a very unique and interesting role which offers a variety of tasks within a growing Company.

Role responsibilities

This role offers a great opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in a very diverse area of sales and production.

The role includes:

  • Working within the office, processing orders which arrive via fax/email.
  • Speaking confidently with suppliers, customers, and associates within the production team.
  • You need to be able to work alone, and as part of a team, and represent the company within the production and sales environment.
  • Developing and expanding existing business by discussing customer needs and identifying areas to target for further sales.
  • You will need to be approachable and helpful.
  • General administration tasks.
  • There is also a manual element to the role as the successful candidate will also be expected to assist with the unloading of container deliveries, checking of deliveries and the preparation of orders for delivery to the customer which requires a good level of physical fitness.

Person specification

  • Customer service experience.
  • Flexibility due to the variety of the role.
  • Physically fit to cope with the manual element of the role.
  • Real enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
  • Determination to succeed in all tasks undertaken.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • A confident telephone manner.
  • You will need to have a full driving licence and vehicle.
  • A good level of IT skills (Microsoft Office etc.)
