Salary: Competitive + benefits
Location: London
Start date: ASAP
Sectors: Consultancy, Sports and Recreation, Research & Analysis

The Company
At Football Radar we provide executive advice for clubs and betting companies, offering world-leading insight, underpinned by sophisticated and wholly unique football analysis that unravels the game at a scientific level.

We use a qualitative methodology that sets us apart from other football analysis companies, applying structured evaluations of every event and movement in the game, we then distill these in our advanced quantitative models.

For our methodology to continue to thrive and evolve we need candidates with a passion for the intricacies of the game and the ability to study these to an exacting standard. We have grown rapidly over the past few years, and we owe our success to the strength of our employees. There is an entrepreneurial energy surrounding our company with a professional yet friendly atmosphere. At Football Radar you will have many opportunities to collaborate with some of the most talented football minds in the country, and become a leading expert in football analytics with the opportunity to change the game scientifically.

The Role
Our Player Analyst team is one of the fastest growing areas of development within Football Radar. This is an opportunity to join a truly innovative team that are reinventing the way football analysis is performed.

More than a fan
As a Player Analyst you will be studying the game in minute detail, combining the skills of a Scout and a Performance Analyst to help us understand the game on a scientific level.

Your aim as a Player Analyst is to measure the team and it’s players’ performance. With the help of our unique framework you will learn how to assess key performance indicators, and therefore develop a real understanding of the game and how to effectively analyse both player and team performance. The assessments you produce will need to be logged in a consistent and systematic way, with the output of your work contributing to our statistical models enabling us to calculate the overall level of performance of the team.

Being a Player Analyst is not about the celebrating every goal that is scored, it is about understanding why the goal was scored. If you are attracted by the club atmosphere and the matchday experience you may not be best suited to this role, however if you have a passion to truly understand the game then you are in the right place. With us you will be working solely on the analytical side of football, our office resembles a research lab where people here are more excited about getting down and dirty with their research, than having their photo taken with famous players.

We are confident that our assessments of football are without comparison, so if you become part of the team at Football Radar you will be part of the most advanced analytical centre in the football industry!

As part of this role you will also have the opportunity to experience the science behind how we analyse live football games, with a specific focus on the Premier League and the English Football League. Each week you will analyse at least one game from the top four tiers of English football in real time, giving you the opportunity to understand another branch of football analysis, as well as developing a greater knowledge of the English Football League and the numbers behind the game in this country.

Seeing what others don’t..
Given the complexity of a football match this role requires a meticulous nature and a rigorous attention to detail. Player analysis is a time consuming and complex process, this job will only suit a person who likes to work in depth and who can maintain concentration for extended periods of time.

As a Player Analyst you will be part of a dynamic and evolving project. Our framework for analysing football is in an ongoing Research and Development process, opening up opportunities for you to contribute to innovating our approach going forward. You will also have the opportunity to gain scouting qualifications on the road to becoming a world leading football expert.

What’s the deal?
For the role of Player Analyst you will be on a full-time annualised contract for which you will be paid per hour/task you complete. The job is flexible so you can structure your own time but you do need to work from our London office and be available on Saturdays to live analyse a 3pm kick-off as well as being available for a further live game on a Tuesday evening.

The Player Analyst role is paramount to the company and as such we offer you several benefits: an in-house chef; a fantastic reduced gym membership; and a cash-back private health plan. On top of this you will be working in a beautiful building with social space to break out, play table-tennis or enjoy your coffee in our garden.

What we're looking for
Ideally you will have completed your education (a university degree of at least a 2:1). Academic records are not essential, but if you don’t have them, we want to see examples of industry relevant experience to verify your ambition. If you have neither, you need not apply.

You also need:
• Extensive knowledge of football
• To be reliable, meticulous, and honest
• The ability to work independently and to be self-motivated
• A valid permit to work in the UK and be able to work in London on a daily basis
• To be able to attend an intial 2 week training period starting Tuesday 4th July and also be fully available for the rest of July for further job training

If you do not match all of the above please do not apply at this current time.

The Application Process
Once you have submitted your application it will be reviewed.

After we have examined your application and CV, if successful you will be invited to the next stage which is an Assessment Centre at our office where you will undertake a series of tests. The final stage is a face-to-face Interview.

Successful applicants will then begin their 2 weeks Training (including hours on the weekends). You will be able to start working immediately after completion of Training.

From Assessment Centre to the beginning of Training takes around 3 weeks and you will be told of our decision at least one week before the start of the Training programme.

Can you help us change the game?
