Listen to what some of our current graduates have to say….

“When I was hunting for a graduate scheme, I wanted to find a scheme which would allow me to develop and learn alongside contributing to the business. Since I joined, I’ve done just that; I’ve been responsible for working alongside a depot to pilot a new handheld device which will be rolled out across the business over the next two years. I’ve been given responsibility to ensure everyone is trained to use the new systems, work alongside contractors to get all the physical infrastructure and hardware we need fitted and tested on time, and developing a strategy to handle the data from the 65,000 customer accounts we have.”

Chris Runkee – Graduate Supply Chain and Operations

“I’m glad I chose the Brakes graduate programme because firstly it’s a dynamic business. Change is high on the agenda and that provides so much opportunity to grab onto. Whether it is involvement in real projects or driving a particular area of interest, there is always the chance to make a mark. Secondly, it’s a varied programme and there is a commitment to make sure you see the whole operation which provides a great opportunity for success beyond the programme. Along with this, there is great exposure to directors who are invested in what you are doing and mentoring from a senior manager which will really help professional development. As a programme, it has what I see as the best opportunities for making a career beyond the 2 years.”

Will Kinder – Graduate Supply Chain and Operations

Marc Thursby – Graduate Supply Chain and Operations

I chose this graduate scheme due to the opportunity for advancement; the provision of several placements with an aim to eventually settle into the most suitable role appeals to my determination to succeed within my chosen profession. I believe that by completing the scheme I will start my career with a well-rounded knowledge of Supply Chain and Operations, as Brakes graduates are offered the opportunity to ask questions and work within several differing job areas within each placement. One of my main ambitions whilst job-hunting was to work for an established, recognised company and as the leading foodservice provider in the UK Brakes certainly fits this description.
