We’re looking for talented Graduates to join our Graduate Development Programme, in both Economics and Generalist areas.

Ofwat (The Water Services Regulation Authority) is a non-ministerial government department. We regulate the water sector in England and Wales. As competition opens in the business retail market this year, this is a time of evolution and development for the sector and an exciting time to join our team and ride the wave!

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be rotating through a number of placements within different programmes of work. Our dynamic and packed 18-month programme will enable you to use the economic and analytical tools developed in your degree, to help us solve problems in the water industry. This is complex and high profile work and you’ll be given the opportunity to demonstrate your potential from the outset.

You’ll have opportunities to hone your economic skills and develop broader skills, including policy development, drafting and presentation, data analysis and modelling.

With a strong academic foundation, an instinct for problem solving and a resilient approach, you will have (or be on target to achieve in 2018) a 2:1 degree in a subject with a significant focus on microeconomics, industrial organisation, financial economics, competition or regulation and we’re particularly keen to hear from you if you have (or will obtain in 2018) a relevant post-graduate degree.

You’ll experience opportunities to develop your analytical, communication and broader skills such as policy development, drafting and presentation.

With an interest in policy and regulation, you will have (or be on target to achieve) a 2:1 degree in a numerical, analytical or business related discipline (such as Business Studies, Business Management, Law, Corporate Finance, History, Geography, Environmental engineering or other sustainability related disciplines) you could be just what we’re looking for.

With no more than two years’ post-graduate work experience, you will enthusiastic, engaged and ready to make a difference. Finding your feet and become effective very quickly in our small friendly and inclusive organisation. You’ll be empowered by our culture of autonomy, collaboration, learning and innovation and you’ll be exposed to senior executives and stakeholders early on, giving you the opportunity to raise your profile internally and within the sector.

As a Graduate Associate on our programme, you’ll be employed on an 18 month fixed term contract with a starting salary of £27,000 plus a substantial benefits package including 25 days holiday plus 10 ½ bank holiday and privilege leave days per annum.

Whilst you will be based from either our Birmingham or London office (you are able to specify a preference) with a requirement to travel to the other office as needed, we do operate a truly flexible and agile working culture with all of the IT/infrastructure (including a Surface Pro and iPhone 7) to enable you to work efficiently where and when needed.
