I protect lives, not money.

At MI5, technology plays an increasingly frontline role in safeguarding our nation from terrorism, espionage and cyber-attacks. Our Technology Graduate Development Programme (TGDP) is the exciting opportunity to work in a unique environment, getting hands-on experience and exposure to meaningful work that nowhere else can offer.

This is a structured, two-year development programme that is designed to fully equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to be an effective part of MI5’s technology teams. What we do is interesting, unique and you’ll work with projects, teams and technology you won’t find anywhere else.

Your experience begins with an Outward Bounds Experience for team bonding and confidence building exercises that will push you out of your comfort zone and prepare you for life at MI5. You’ll also learn leadership competencies and other skills that can be used in your day-to-day roles and for future promotion.

On joining the TGDP, you will be working in either the Business or Specialist streams, based on your preference, skills and business need. The Business stream encompasses areas such as Business Analysis, Project Management, Information Architecture and IT Service Management. The Specialist stream covers Software Engineering and Cyber.

Wherever you find yourself, you’ll enjoy the variety that comes from working across different teams on real-life projects that matter. All while gaining valuable skills, knowledge and experience that contribute to keeping the country safe.

We’ll support you all the way. During the programme you’ll receive a combination of extensive on-the-job and more formal training individually designed to enable you to meet your potential. You’ll follow a role specific development pathway and you’ll work with other members on the development programme on challenges and projects. Your development doesn’t stop there. We may fund relevant additional training that will enable you to complete, or further advance, your professional qualifications and career aspirations.

To join the TGDP, you’ll have a passion for technology and have (or be expecting) a 2:2 in any degree subject by September 2019.

The nature of our technical work means you will need to be an articulate communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships with people at every level. With your analytical skills and the confidence to question conventional thinking, you will combine honesty and resilience with sound judgement in your day to day work.

In return you’ll enjoy more scope, more opportunity and more support, along with an excellent salary, great benefits and an amazing work-life balance.

Join a programme that makes a difference.

We particularly welcome applications from women and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates.
