KPMG in the UK has 22 offices and is part of a global network of member firms offering Audit, Tax and Advisory services to some of the world’s biggest businesses. Being part of KPMG is being part of a community of talented and innovative people, working together to have a positive, lasting impact on clients. No one type of person succeeds at KPMG; a diverse business requires diverse personalities, characters and perspectives. And with the opportunity to work across different functional sectors, there really is a place for you here.

What is Audit?

The fundamental role of an auditor is defined as “reporting on whether the annual accounts show ‘a true and fair view’ of the company’s financial activity and position to its shareholders”. You’ll get to understand the inner workings of a business. That’s what makes audit so interesting. Join us and you’re likely to find yourself asking – and finding answers to – some complex questions. Does a business own its fixed assets? How much is its stock really worth? What’s the true value of its investments? Audit is certainly challenging but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

Programmes available

We offer three Audit programmes from which to choose; each lasting three years and on each, you’ll be supported on your journey to ACA qualification. Our three routes are Business Audit, Public Sector Audit and Audit Mandarin. We offer two distinct routes to achieving the ACA qualification – the Empowered programme allows you to study for your ACA qualification as you build your commercial expertise on real projects and the Intensive programme, which frontloads 14 of the 15 exams into your first ten months.

If you’re a Mandarin speaker, we can offer you an additional, unique opportunity. As part of the Audit Mandarin Graduate Programme, you'll have the chance to gain experience in the UK and work with KPMG in China after you qualify.

To apply, you’ll need to have or be on course for a 2:1 degree in any discipline with 300 UCAS points and a grade B or above in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalents). However, it’s not just your academic performance we’re interested in – we’ll assess your application by combining a number of different factors.

The inside track

“My role is really varied. Audit is a lot more than checking numbers – it’s really thought provoking. For example, I’m assessing whether the financial statements of different tech telecoms and media companies are a true and fair reflection of their transactions – whether they’re small firms or huge multinationals.

A highlight for me was when I worked in Dallas, Texas, for two weeks. As well as carrying out audit work for our clients, we watched the biggest American football game of the year in a Texan bar, and went to a rodeo!”
