Kent County Council Graduate Programme

Transformation & Innovation Project Officer Children, Young People & Education (CYPE)

Transform your prospects as you transform our services

Whether it’s education or transport, strategic planning or emergency services, Kent County Council’s focus is on improving lives. We want to ensure every pound spent in the county delivers better outcomes for our residents, communities and businesses. Join our graduate programme, and we’ll help you achieve your ambitions as you help us achieve ours.

The Programme

We want Kent to be the best place for children and young people to grow up safely, learn, develop and achieve. As part of our Transformation & Innovation team, you’ll help to make that happen. You will build your skills and experience by supporting live projects that have a tangible impact on people’s lives. At the same time, you’ll bring fresh perspectives and new ideas to the process of service improvement across Children, Young People & Education.

This is a three-year, fast-track programme leading to a permanent Project Officer role in Transformation & Innovation. You will benefit from a structured training plan that includes opportunities for real responsibility and hands-on experience. With plenty of support from colleagues across the council, you‘ll be exposed to different project management methodologies and techniques, and work towards the Associate Project Manager apprenticeship (Level 4) and other related personal development activity.

Who can apply?

To get the most from this opportunity you will be an innovative individual who is keen to contribute as part of a team. With a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in any discipline and GCSEs in English and Maths (grades C or above), you will be numerate, analytical and well organised, with strong communication and influencing skills. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated, resilient graduate who is passionate about forging a career in a progressive local authority.
