A lot to take in, but plenty of rewards
As an Intelligence Analyst at GCHQ, you’ll use your analytical skills and understanding of technology to analyse often highly technical data and produce critical intelligence that helps to protect the UK.
At GCHQ, we gather intelligence material from a range of channels around the world to support the UK government’s efforts to combat cyber criminals, terrorists, hackers and organised crime. As one of our Intelligence Analysts, you will work with complex data, understanding it and interpreting it to find the crucial intelligence within it. It’s an exciting, challenging and highly complex role, where the priorities are often changing in line with world events. You could be involved in strategic projects lasting years, or immediate requirements to support a live security operation. Identifying the most important data, you’ll need to assess its intelligence value and produce reports based on your findings.
You’ll have a 2:2 degree in any subject, a keen interest in current affairs and technology and you are able to write with precision and confidence. You have strong intellectual curiosity and excellent analytical skills that will allow you to tackle large, complex data sets accurately and quickly when required. You are not expected to have a wealth of technical knowledge or skills on day one so we provide a full training programme in order to develop you as an intelligence analyst, to enable you to play an important role in protecting the UK.
