Iceland Food Technical Placement Opportunities 2020:

Among our many exciting opportunities are those in our Industrial Placement Programmes, where we have a proven scheme for current 2nd year students who qualify for a year in industry.

We’re searching for the best students to join us for a year-long technical placement, where you’ll help assuring food safety, legal and quality for Iceland brand products.

This is your chance to put what you’ve learned at university to good use. We’ll give you responsibility from day one, while giving you the right mentoring and support to help you develop at your own pace and make the right decisions that will shape the future of our business.

Food Technical Industrial Placement objectives:

  • Focus on Food Safety, Quality and Legal Compliance.
  • Work on our specification system ‘Igloo’ and deal with own label specifications.
  • Complete Nutrition Certificates that will be sent to Marketing before the product appears on TV to determine if a product is high in fat, salt or sugar.
  • Check Marketing material to ensure all product information is accurate
  • Look into sugar reduction and analyse our sugar policy as part of Public Health England’s Childhood Obesity Strategy.
  • Work closely with Technologists and have the opportunity to attend attribute panels in our stare of the art kitchen along with key suppliers.
  • Develop Excel skills.
  • Develop team working skills.

Entry Requirements:

We’re looking for the very best candidates out there – plain and simple. You’ll need to be on track for a 1st class or 2:1 (or equivalent) in a relevant degree discipline.

Here at Iceland we offer a very competitive salary for our Graduates and Placement students along with an excellent benefits package, we provide 25 days holiday plus 8 days bank holiday, free parking on site, 10% store discount, 30% club individual restaurant discount, a highly subsidised restaurant on site along with a subsidised costa.

Application process:

We ask all applicants to apply online using the application forms and attaching a copy of your full and up to date CV. If successful you will then be taken through to our online testing facility via an automated email. After the online testing, if successful we then ask candidates to answer 5 questions via video link, we will support you with handy hints and tips to help you with your video interview and you will be able to re-record as many times as you wish to get the perfect application video. If successful after the video interviews you will be invited to an assessment centre in our Deeside Head office where you will have to opportunity to meet with Senior stakeholders within the Food Technical Department and really leave a lasting impression.

Our Assessment Centres will be held in January, with final interviews going ahead around February time. If successful, all candidates will be due to start in July 2020.
