The Airbus Defence and Space Engineering Division comprises more than 7000 engineers across Europe. As part of this
division, the Software Development Department in Newcastle consists of a small team of technical staff focussing on innovative
mission and life-critical operational systems for Homeland Security and Emergency Services worldwide. The role provides an
opportunity to be involved in many different technologies using a number of software development languages, methodologies
and environments.


The main activities of this opportunity will include:

¤ Conceive, write and maintain software program code as part of a dynamic team.

¤ Contribute to and support the design of software components (as appropriate to the assignment).

¤ Compose and manage supporting software materials required for development (such as data, graphics, user interface etc.)

¤ Troubleshoot technical problems and work to identify efficient resolution

¤ Contribute to estimates for development work with ideas and based on technical experience.


As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

¤ A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or a related subject.
¤ Excellent communication skills
¤ Knowledge of the software development lifecycle
¤ Ability to work in a cross-functional team-driven environment
¤ Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
Knowledge/experience in the following would be an advantage:
¤ Object-oriented programming in either the Java or Windows (.NET) stacks.
¤ Software testing strategies.
¤ Data management using relational databases
¤ Web and cloud computing
¤ Software Systems Security

This role will be based in Newcastle and will receive the full Airbus Defence & Space Graduate programme benefit package

including an annual Salary of £27,000, plus a welcome payment of £2,000.
