The Strategic Road Network (SRN) is arguably the biggest and single most important piece of infrastructure in the country. It is at the core of our national transport system. England’s strategic road network consists of more than 4,300 miles of motorway and major A roads including a highly complex asset base of more than 16,000 structures 21,870 miles of pavement and 110,000 technology assets.
What we are looking for
Our standards are extremely high and our atmosphere is friendly and stimulating. We are looking for ambitious graduates or postgraduates who have completed or are about to complete a RICS accredited degree. A team player, you demonstrate great communication skills and the passion and dedication it takes to make change happen. You should bring to the role an understanding of commercial management and quantity surveying principles. Knowledge of procurement and tendering techniques, and of construction and civil engineering contracts, will also be important. This role will provide lots of opportunity for both personal and professional development in a large evolving organisation.

Your placements will enable you to develop the skills you need to achieve Chartered Surveyor status, aligned to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accreditation. Working with senior colleagues to plan your own placements, you can direct the learning you need. With opportunities for placements across our business, you will be an ambassador for Quantity Surveying at Highways England.
With support from senior colleagues, you will enjoy the chance to plan and manage your own training. Your professional training will involve release from your day to day responsibilities for study. Ultimately, you will acquire all the knowledge necessary to build a rewarding career in the field of quantity surveying.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Together with some experience of quantity surveying, gained during your education, we ask that you hold the following:
•2:2 degree or above in any subject.
•300 + UCAS points at A Level (or equivalents) from your top three grades.
•GCSE English & Maths.
