Dstl is all about innovation and multidisciplinary creativity. We're responsible for designing, developing and applying the very latest in science and technology for the benefit of UK defence and security, across government. We work with the best people with the best ideas around the world - from very small organisations to world-class universities, huge defence companies and, sometimes, other nations. Together we develop battle-winning technologies, based on deep and widespread research, to support UK military operations, now and in the future.

This is an exciting opportunity to build your physics career in a unique specialism. In fact, as a Graduate Physicist, you'll join a specific team with experts in their field to provide technical input into a whole range of projects. It means working across a variety of unusual interdisciplinary fields, where you'll gain a deep technical understanding of your particular subject area. For example, you could be supporting on research trials, analysing and developing radar systems or assessing commercial technology. Ultimately, you'll be part of delivering objective and scientific advice to senior members of the MOD and across government, helping them make important defence decisions. It requires real creative thinking, as this is work you just simply wouldn't find elsewhere.

We're looking for talented, collaborative gradates and postgraduates who have the communication and leadership skills to support unexpected science. With the ability to deliver work at pace, you'll bring a minimum of a 2.2 honours degree in: physics, mathematics, computer science, statistics, software engineering, engineering, radio-frequency engineering or electronics. If you have an MA, MSc or PhD in an appropriate discipline, or a membership (or working towards a membership) of a relevant professional body, you'll really stand out.
