The Graduate Network Design Engineer is responsible for performing and documenting network design tasks for allocated elements of an overall project, by

¤ Agreeing requirements, deliverables and milestone dates with the tasking manager / team lead.
¤ Applying knowledge and experience to provide appropriate design solutions.
¤ Effectively communicating progress and any issues impacting upon the design tasks.
¤ Following prescribed training and familiarisation programme.

A Graduate Network Design Engineer is responsible for clearly defined aspects of a project but receives daily supervision and technical guidance from the Senior/ Principal Engineer or Manager for all tasks assigned to them.


The successful role-holder will need to ensure that...

1. Allocated work elements are completed by the job holder to Airbus Defence and Space standards, within agreed cost, time and quality constraints.
2. Documentation is produced as part of specified design responsibilities.
3. Designs are performed to Airbus Defence and Space standards. Records are maintained of all design decisions, and of all design solutions.
4. They contribute to delivering Airbus Defence and Space network design solutions that comply with their requirements.
5. Development and efficiency of personal capabilities is ongoing through contributions based on experience.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS - Degree-level (or equivalent) in Engineering / Telecommunications / IT related subjects - Sociability / self-assurance - Good interaction / communication skills - Ability to work well in a team

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS - Experience in networking / radio propagation and principles - Project Management experience - Previous use of IT systems - Awareness of commercial networking products

The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

This role will be based in Newport and will receive the full Airbus Defence & Space Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of £27,000, plus a welcome payment of £2,000.
