The Role:

The successful individual will be given extensive training and development and so it is essential that you are willing to learn and have a real can-do attitude.


The Junior Programmers / Solution Designers are assigned to projects and feature teams to design the end-to-end technical solution for the business.  They also provide technical leadership and support to development teams throughout the project life cycle.


Designers will be expected to work in an agile environment


Responsibilities include:

  1. Propose cost effective and practical solutions to business requirements within assigned programme.
  2. Ensure solutions adhere to architectural, time, documentation, cost, security and quality standards.
  3. Ensure that all designs are reviewed & approved according to local governance procedures.
  4. Ensure that implemented designs are operationally successful and meet all agreed functional requirements.
  5. Assist the programme to estimate, size and plan the design activity to deliver the proposed solution, including IT components.
  6. Production of design documents appropriate to assignment potentially including (but not restricted to): initial design options, solution outline documents, high level solution designs, logical and physical data models, architectural overview diagrams, system context diagrams, technical environment plans.
  7. Identify risks affecting solutions and provide input to recommendations


Key Skills / Background:

  • A 2:1 or above degree in Computer Science or IT Programming or a related degree
  • A passion for programming or design is essential
  • Any hands on experience in technology or development would be an advantage
  • A positive can do attitude and a keen desire to learn and develop to build a long term career
