An opportunity has arisen within the propulsion and electromobility group to recruit an engineer into the test team at the Quatro Park site in Basildon on a 6 month contract basis. We test a wide range of products at the site but are focused on EV batteries and associated technologies.

This role is suitable for either recently graduated engineers or those with more experience. Our team are from a range of engineering disciplines, so we are open to applicants from different engineering specialties including mechanical, electrical., aerospace etc. Your enthusiasm and a desire to learn new skills is equally as important as your qualification to us.

Main Purpose Of Job

Project Engineer – Manage customer test programs from quotation to final report, including execution of the testing. Deliver test programs on time, within budget and according to the appropriate quality and health and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities
• Execution of tests in accordance with customer and international standards.
• Project management of your test programs including i. Proposal generation ii. Financial control iii. On-time delivery v. Reporting vi. Customer liaison
• Applying engineering skills to solve the challenges presented by customer test requirements
• Ensure pre-project planning identifies all capability required to successfully deliver the program (including technology, facilities and personnel).
• Ensure project meets MIRA QHS&E standards including production of Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments and other tools required to ensure safety and quality
• Work flexibly in a team across multiple-test disciplines within the Quatro Park Test facility and support colleagues as individual workloads change.

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications
• HNC in an engineering-based subject

Preferred Qualifications
• Degree in an engineering-based subject

Essential Experience
• Working with transducers, signal conditioning equipment and data loggers
• Capable of working independently or as part of a team to provide test solutions
• Familiarity with Oscilloscopes, DVM’s etc.
• Able to use MS Word and Excel to a good standard

Preferred Experience
• Project management
• Working with high voltage DC
• Working with internal and external customers on problem resolution
• Knowledge of Electric Vehicle systems/ batteries
• Knowledge of Canalyzer / NI Labview or NI Test Stand

What is the candidate likely to be doing now?
• Recently graduated or working in an electronic or electrical project or testing environment

Other information
• Security clearance will be required
• Flexibility with working hours will be required due to the timing of tests (e.g. weekend and evening working).
• Must be able to converse fluently in English and write technical proposals and reports to a high standard in English.
