We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fulfil the role of Data
Officer. This is a key role within the Training Administration Team with
a core responsibility for gathering and entering data, preparing and
submitting student-related statutory returns to the Higher Education
Statistics Agency (HESA).
Background and summary of the job
The Minster Centre is seeking a highly motivated individual to fulfil the role of Data Officer. This is a key role within the Training Administration Team with a core responsibility for gathering and entering data, preparing and submitting student-related statutory returns to the Higher Education
Statistics Agency (HESA). A sound understanding of spreadsheet queries
is essential as well as an aptitude for analysing, understanding and
validating data sets. The ideal candidate would have excellent IT and
time management skills. In addition, they will be able to work
autonomously on various tasks and also work well in the team and with
colleagues within the Minster Centre to improve data quality. This is a
great opportunity for someone with relevant transferable skills to develop
those skills further whilst working with and learning about professional
bodies in Higher Education.
Duties and responsibilities
-Working under direction of the Registrar and using own initiative to plan and gather student data, enter student data on the systems for returning to HESA.
-Providing data analysis and investigation of irregularities and anomalies with regard to the Minster Centre’s annual AP Student Return and the DLHE data return to HESA.
-Liaising with students and internal colleagues to gather and input data as necessary to ensure a high level of accuracy in the student data.
-Ensure internal deadlines are met and data returns are made on time in line with HESA schedule.
-Day-to-day management of data quality and use of HESA data collection systems, data entry tool and validation kit.
-Preparation of reports for the purpose of planning and presenting information to management, and periodically creating reports for the other internal and external data requirements.
-Assisting in the development of the Salesforce student-information-database to ensure ongoing accurate data capture and storage.
-Regularly liaising with HESA to resolve queries as necessary.
The post is available immediately on a 6 months Fixed Term Contract, with the possibility of an extension.
Located in NW6. 35 hours per week, 9.30am and 5.30pm, Monday-Friday.
