Lloyds Banking Group

Work with industry leaders on real-world projects and make a tangible impact on our commitment to making data-driven decisions.

Duration: 2 years

There are a range of certifications and qualifications we can help you work towards. We’ll work with you to understand your goals and create a tailored learning plan.

Help us harness data to Help Britain Prosper

We’re the UK’s biggest digital bank, with over 18 million online customers. But there’s still so much more we want to achieve. Data represents a critical part of our business and our vision for the future. We’re investing more than £3bn into our people, technology and data to ensure we can make a real, positive impact to millions of customers, businesses and communities, today and tomorrow.

Join our Data Management and Strategy programme and you’ll play a part in improving decision making, enhancing our customers’ experience, making our operations more efficient, our risk management more effective, and putting us in an even stronger position to achieve our purpose of Helping Britain Prosper. Through your strategic use of data you’ll help us make it the driving force behind the future of our Group.

Is our Data Management and Strategy Graduate Scheme for you?

If you’re the kind of person who gets excited by data, who sees its potential, this opportunity could be for you. Through it, you’ll begin to master how data can be harnessed for strategic advantage, develop the tools to drive innovation, and be part of building the data-driven culture that will shape the future of our Group.

This programme goes beyond technical expertise, taking you into the strategic side of data management. Join us and you’ll get the chance to use data to develop strategies, make our operations more efficient and drive the sustainable growth of our Group. Tackling complex business challenges and delivering practical recommendations you’ll be able to see and feel the impact you’re making.

To do this well, you’ll need the ability to think strategically along with the skills to collaborate and communicate well with others. Natural curiosity and a drive to keep learning is a must, especially in this rapidly evolving field. Some familiarity with data management or data analysis would be a plus but isn’t essential.

What you’ll learn on the Data Management and Strategy Graduate Scheme

Over two years, you’ll develop a deep understanding of data management principles, analytics and strategic frameworks. You’ll learn how to collect, clean and analyse data to uncover valuable insights that can be used to drive better decision-making. And you’ll do it through hands-on projects, guided by colleagues in our expert teams who’ll ensure you have the practical skills to succeed in this rapidly evolving field.

The programme starts with a bootcamp, fast-tracking your understanding of our Group and the role data plays within it. Following that, you’ll begin a series of two to three placements where you’ll develop core data skills in key areas including Data Governance, Data Management Solutions, Data Ethics, Data Management, and Data Management Engagement.

With support from mentors and managers, and access to a vast network of industry professionals, you’ll have unlimited opportunities to connect, learn and develop the in-depth understanding you need to forge the data career you want.

The work you could be doing

  • Establishing and implementing policies and procedures for data management
  • Developing processes to collect, aggregate, and integrate data from various databases
  • Applying analytics techniques to extract meaningful insights that will support strategic decision making
  • Monitoring and reporting on data driven outcomes to assess performance and make informed adjustments
  • Creating informative dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate insights to colleagues
  • Working closely with other teams to identify their data needs and support their requirements

Is this for you?

What you need to apply

A 2:2 degree or above in any subject area from any university. Students with a PhD or Master’s degree are also welcome.

You’ll be based at one of our main hubs for the two years you’re on the scheme. These are in South West (Bristol & Cardiff), London, West Yorkshire (Halifax & Leeds), Edinburgh, North West (Manchester & Chester). You’ll select one of these locations and be based there throughout your programme. Places are limited, so if you’re willing to consider locations other than the one you’ve selected tell us on your application. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in a hybrid way, which involves collaborating in the office at least two days per week.

Closing date

The closing date for applications is 31st October. Our graduate schemes may close early if we receive a high number of applications, so it’s best to apply as soon as you can.

The application process

Our application process is designed to give all candidates the opportunity to excel. You’ll find everything you need to know, including stages of the process and tips to help you succeed, on our how to apply page.

We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.
