Can you help IGD to raise our brand profile and drive engagement?

We are looking for someone to provide PR and social media support to our busy corporate communications team. This means being involved in the day-to-day excitement of a press office and helping to manage our social media activity.

About the role

This is an exciting role for anyone who is keen to take their first steps into public relations, media and social media, by working in a fast-paced communications environment. Social media is becoming a more purposeful part of how IGD communicates and this is a great opportunity for you to help shape that journey.

You’ll be joining an enthusiastic, friendly and highly supportive team. You will have every opportunity to learn and develop through shadowing, training courses and more, so that you can ensure that we are doing everything we can to raise our profile and shout about the great work we do. And you can feel good about being part of a company that uses its profits to support good causes through our social impact activities.

The responsibilities

Reporting into the Head of Social Impact and Corporate Communications, these include:

Working with the media

You’ll be our first line of response to media queries, monitoring and sharing the media coverage we generate. You will help to keep the team on top of changes in the media landscape, updating and tracking journalists and their contact details as they move around the industry.

You will have the opportunity to build your own relationships with the media and to identify extra opportunities for us to secure media coverage through forward features.

There will be lots of opportunities to learn and to grow your experience in media, as well as participate in specific training for working within PR.

Posting on social media

Working with many of the teams around the organisation, you'll have the opportunity to create copy, share and post from our official IGD social media accounts, as well as measuring our reach and engagement through these channels.

What you bring

  • You should have a real passion for storytelling and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • You will have a real thirst for knowledge and be genuinely interested in working with the media and finding out what makes a great media story

  • You must have the ability to work collaboratively, build strong relationships with others and enjoy sharing your ideas

  • You will also need excellent time management and organisational skills

  • You should be resilient and be able to learn from mistakes in order to build better future solutions

The rewards

We offer a range of benefits, including a market leading pension, a bonus scheme, the ability to buy and sell annual leave plus a generous medical insurance package. We have a great work-life balance, where you are empowered & trusted to manage your time.

The location

We are operating a hybrid approach to working with a mix of home and office-based working. We are based in a very accessible location within the M25, just 20 miles from central London.

More about our people

We’re looking for inspiring professionals; talented people who seek personal and career growth and are ambitious to develop their potential and unlock opportunities for society, for our customers and themselves.

We seek and attract the very best people and create an environment that supports and includes them. We aim to encourage a culture where people can be themselves and be valued for their contribution. We therefore welcome applications from diverse candidates. This includes people with disabilities, so please discuss any adjustments that you may require throughout the selection and assessment process.
