About the opportunity

Over the course of the programme, you will develop detailed product knowledge of bricks, Thermalite, Aggregate Block and precast concrete, allowing you to understand what our customers need and make the right recommendations. You’ll also gain experience in a breadth of roles across Forterra including Area Sales Management, Production Planning, Customer Contact Centre, Distribution, Marketing and Commercial Reporting.

You’ll learn all about our competitor landscape, keeping on top of product and market developments in commercial, technical and policy matters. We’ll teach you how to maintain and operate internal reports and systems, as well as how to handle personal projects effectively. Responsibilities you could own on the programme include:

• Supporting the achievement of budget volume/price across our product range
• Attending exhibitions, conferences, presentations and other functions to get our brand and products out into the world
• Establishing and maintaining good customer relations, particularly by timely and efficient responses to queries and complaints
• Monitoring the efficiency of procedures and systems, suggesting new improvements where vital

By the end of your structured training period, where you will be mentored throughout, you should be ready to take on a permanent role within our commercial function!

About you

We’re looking for highly motivated teammates with a 2:1 (or equivalent) in any subject area. You’ll need to be capable of working on your own initiative as well as prioritising your workload. Experience with Microsoft Excel would be helpful but is not essential. You will need a full driving licence, as well as the ability to travel to sites across the UK. Other qualities we’d like to see include:

• Excellent communication and relationship skills
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
• IT knowledge
