We are pleased to be offering a full time Level 7 RTPI Chartered Town Planning Apprenticeship for graduates from any academic background that wish to do postgraduate degree in Town Planning. This pathway is fully accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)

The apprenticeship will be delivered over 24 months (not including the End Point Assessment) in partnership with University College London. Your time will be split between studies, with one day per week studying at the university, and four days per week at our London office.

The Degree Apprenticeship Programme has been designed to include a mix of on- and off- the job training broken down as follows:

  • On-the-job: 80% of your time will be spent working as a full-time employee
  • Off-the-job: 20% of your time will be dedicated to training away from your day-to-day work activities and responsibilities. This includes the formal postgraduate degree qualification.

You will work in our Planning department based in London. You will be part of the Housing and Land team, but will be able to work on projects across Central London, Heritage & Townscape, and Commercial teams..

On completion of the postgraduate degree, you will work towards sitting your APC as part of the End Point Assessment which will be assessed by the RTPI.


The structured Apprenticeship training programme is a client-facing role which will allow you to gain experience and technical skills across a range of projects. You will receive comprehensive support from the partners, your line manager, peers and mentors. You will be given the resources to start working on exciting projects from day one with exposure to some of the largest commercial, residential and mixed-use property projects in the UK today. We encourage our Apprentices to explore, question and collaborate across the business to meet our client’s objectives and to contribute towards the evolution of the firm.

Your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Research, analyse and present on a range of planning issues;
  • Inspect and assess a range of property types;
  • Undertake site assessments using a range of sector specific research and GIS mapping tools;
  • Attend client and design team meetings;
  • Contribute to pitches and presentations;
  • Provide clear written advice and reports for clients and to support planning applications;
  • Be part of the team responsible for the preparation, submission and monitoring of planning applications and appeals;
  • Attend public consultation events;
  • Work directly with Montagu Evans Associates and Partners on a day-to-day basis

• Liaise and collaborate with internal departments and external consultants (such as architects, solicitors, building surveyors and other technical advisors)

  • Attend external events including networking opportunities and planning committees

To qualify for the degree apprenticeship, you must be 18 and over have achieved the following:

  • A minimum of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) from any discipline.
