In the Contract Design Hub we are technical designers working on some of BTs biggest and most diverse global customer contracts. Our team, working alongside our customers are responsible for technical design and development of solutions and ideas ranging from IT Infrastructure (Cloud based systems/virtualisation/server architecture), data networking (WAN/LAN/Mobility) and voice and telephony (IPT/Contact Centres).

With some of the world's biggest brands and organisations, we are responsible for developing and designing their IT and communication infrastructures. Being closer to our customers means bigger responsibilities. Our team directly impact our customers networked IT and telephony solutions. Ranging from critical systems within the government through to multi-million pound trading floors. Our designs and deliveries have a huge potential to impact our customers and their customers positively.

What does it involve?

You will work across different customer contracts from developing technical propositions and winning new business through to designing and delivering these world-class technical proposals. Our customers never stand still, and neither do we -as contracts develop we are working with them constantly designing and developing their technical estate to allow them to delight their own customers and users.

Customer engagement, technical design, testing and configuration -these are all major parts of our work.

So what do I need?

As well as having a technical mind-set and good problem solving skills you'll need strong judgement and an analytical approach to your work. In addition, you should have a good working knowledge of IP networks, protocols and network components, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to customers. Specific areas of work include:

• IT Infrastructure: Client/Server Architecture, Cloud computing, Virtualisation technology

• Data networking: Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, Wireless-LAN/Mobility

• IPT and Telephony: IPT, Contact Centre, PSTN

You'll have immediate responsibilities in these specialist roles, so you'll also need strong design and development skills. An understanding of software development is also beneficial for some of our roles.
