The Hemscott Database
Hemscott owns and manages a comprehensive proprietary database of company information, which has been built and developed over 17 years, is updated continuously and which includes data from as far back as 1983. At the core of the database is Hemscott's uniquely detailed and complete coverage of the financial activities and directors of UK and Irish listed companies. This coverage has been expanded and enhanced through additional in-house data collection, supply arrangements with key partners and acquisition, including the addition of European and unquoted company data and, in late 2002, the addition of the Directory of Directors database.
Expertise and Technology
Hemscott offers a wide variety of services developed from its database. This is enabled by a robust technological infrastructure, coupled with a staffing resource of highly skilled experts in data, software and website development, maintenance and enhancement. Technical development and support is managed in-house, enabling the company to be highly responsive to market conditions. New or improved services are always delivered in the quickest of timeframes and to the highest quality standards, thus maximising revenue-generating opportunities in both the business information and media divisions.
Business Information
Providing information and tools to business, Hemscott's innovative approach delivers bespoke and off-the-shelf solutions to a wide range of corporate and institutional users.

Data Sales - career path
Successful candidates will be trained on how our proprietary database is updated and maintained. This will cover areas such as -
Although knowledge of these areas is not a prerequisite, a basic understanding would be a distinct advantage.
Initial training in all areas takes 6 months to a year to complete, but further training continues for around 2 years. Trainee Analysts are trained on how to interprete/analyse the data and how it should be loaded into the database. As the individual masters these skills, they will be move to Analyst level where they are trained to review all Trainees work to a high level of accuracy. The goals of the department are to deliver timely data at a high level of accuracy. Recruits would be expected to demonstrate these skills throughout their hemscott career.
We regret that we can only accept applications from individuals who are already entitled to work in the UK or European Union.

"I joined Hemscott a few months after graduating and didn't quite know what to expect. I was surprised to find how young the department was and how quickly I was made to feel part of the team. The in-house training by senior department members showed me exactly what was required in the role and as quick as I could master these areas further training was given. Although the department demands high levels of accuracy and responsibility, the team members make it an enjoyable place to work. I have now experienced working in the department at every level; from analysing financial information and summarizing news stories as a trainee analyst, to reviewing trainees' work as a Senior Analyst and now to managing the department. Each step has brought with it further experience and responsibility which may have been harder to find in a larger organisation."
