The Company

This year we'll be selecting 12 graduates to join our Programme. Our leadership team is wholly committed to making sure that each and every one of you succeeds to the best of your ability. With the help of our award-winning Learning & Development team, we'll design a training programme that suits your individual needs and requirements. You'll be personally sponsored by a Retail Leader in your region and directly mentored by your Regional Manager. Initially, you' ll work as a Trading Manager in a range of stores, from 14, 000 square feet 'supermarkets' to 1,000 square feet convenience or forecourt operations. This will allow you to become a real hands-on retailer with skills developed in a variety of settings - able to make Somerfield better, simpler and faster. As soon as you can prove to us that you' re ready, you'll progress to our Store Manager in training scheme - and could find yourself responsible for your own store in as little as 12 months!

Graduates who succeed with us show an outstanding blend of talents for customer service, teamwork, perseverance and problem-solving, with the ability to influence people at all levels of our business. A 2.2 (in any discipline), the mobility to make the most of nationwide opportunities and a full driving licence are also important. But the key qualities revolve around the resilience to stay the course, the drive and ambition to achieve your goals, a total focus on our business - the winning mentality that's made us such a success with our customers.

Information & FAQ

The basic starting salary is £22,000, plus a £2,000 'welcome' payment and 13 additional payments of £200 each, made in your first year, (to cover Student Loan or overdraft), giving a total salary package of £26,400.
