The Company

The NHS is like no other organisation on earth. Born out of the ideal that good healthcare should be available to all, it is one of the world’s largest publicly funded health services. It has a budget of over £90 billion and employs more than 1.3million people, including some 90,000 hospital doctors, 35,000 GPs, 400,000 nurses and 16,000 ambulance staff. This alone makes it the single biggest employer in Europe.

The NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme runs every year. It lasts up to two-and-a-half years and has been explicitly designed to create the organisation’s future leaders. It consists of four specialisms: Finance Management, General Management, Human Resources Management, and Health Informatics Management. Graduates specialise in one of these areas, acquiring relevant professional qualifications along the way.

The Graduate Management Training Scheme offers a fast-track route to a senior-level role. As such, it’s a uniquely demanding experience. To succeed, candidates will need the confidence to tackle complex problems head on. The intelligence to contribute new ideas and, above all, the desire to make a difference to people’s lives are also vital.
