EDF Energy is the largest generator of low carbon electricity in Britain. We produce one-fifth of the nation's electricity from nuclear, coal and gas power stations, combined heat and power plants and wind farms. We provide power to a quarter of the population and employ 20,000 people. As part of EDF Group - one of Europe’s leading power companies - we’re also the world’s largest nuclear power generator.

The challenge of future sustainability
What does the future hold for sustainable energy? Can it be done safely? Consistently? Can it even be done? There are some big questions. As a leading energy company, we are fully engaged in the debate.
But debate alone is not enough. The UK faces a very real energy ‘gap’ and needs a diverse energy mix to fill it. It calls for us to step up to the challenge. And to do that, we need the very best graduates alongside us.
Our response
To generate and provide all the energy we need in the future, we need to start preparing now. We’ve already integrated with British Energy. Over the coming decade, the UK will see a huge shift in power generation and we’re aiming to have the first new nuclear power station commissioned by 2025.
We’ve set other ambitious targets too. We’ve one of the biggest environmental initiative packages of any British company. We’ll cut the carbon intensity of the emissions from our legacy power plants by 60% by 2020 and invest significantly in renewable energy production. We’ re also championing sustainability through partnership with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
We’re confident of being directly involved with the major developments of the industry for years to come. Our Nuclear and Networks Engineering graduates schemes are designed to ensure that you are too.
