FAQs

Where will I be located?

You can apply for the country of your choice but you must be able to speak the local languages of that country plus English. In the UK our head office is based in Luton and we have brewery operations in London (Richmond), Lancashire (Salmesbury, near Preston) and South Wales (Magor, near Cardiff). You need to be mobile, as during your training period and for your first position you need to be flexible on where you will be located

Will I be guaranteed a full-time position after my training period?

Yes - the trainee roles are full-time, permanent positions

Can I choose the position after my training period?

There is some flexibility - you nominate 3 choices of position/location you would like after your training period and we try to match you to your preference. However this is not guaranteed.

How often can I expect to move position or be promoted?

ABI believes wholly in meritocracy so you will grow at the pace of your talent and will be compensated accordingly. We cannot guarantee that you will change roles or be promoted at a certain pace, but it will depend on the results you deliver. We give you the tools and foundation to grow during your training period and then it is down to you when you start your first position. On average though, our GMT's change position every year to 18 months.

Will I have the opportunity to travel abroad?

It depends on your job. We anticipate that for the first few years you will establish yourself in your home market before taking opportunities to grow outside of your home market. Once you get to mid- senior management, there is an expectation that you will move geographically and functionally and then there is more opportunity to move within Western Europe and outside your home zone.

What training will I get?

During your initial months in the company you will have a detailed training program where you will also get the opportunity to train "on the job" and be stretched from day 1. We believe that people learn the most and the quickest when they are put out of their comfort zone and learn on the job and not in the classroom. We provide support through coaching from a line manager, and support from a mentor. We also do provide classroom training and have an eLearning platform that can support additional training needs identified during your personal development review.
