New data from High Fliers Research shows expected increase in graduate vacancies.

Independent market research company, High Fliers Research, has released a new study which predicts that the graduating class of 2016 will see a 10 per cent increase in job vacancies. High Fliers specialises in employment prospects for university leavers, primarily with the UK's top graduate employers such as Aldi, Deloitte and the Civil Service.

According to their findings, the number of graduate vacancies is set to increase to 22,300 among the top 100 employers-a 9.6 per cent increase from 2015. Martin Birchall, Managing Director at High Fliers, says the rise in openings is a positive sign from employers.

"This assessment of employers' graduate recruitment plans for 2016 shows the substantial commitment that they are prepared to make in hiring, training and developing the right graduates for their organisations," he says.

For the twelfth successive year, PwC has been named the best employer in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers. The professional services firm is looking to take on an impressive 1,500 graduates next year.

PwC is followed by Aldi, who expect to take on 200 graduates, while Google has no fixed quota. Teach First and the Civil Service complete the top five, with both organisations expecting to employ 1,860 and 900 graduates respectively.

Regional Managing Director at Aldi, Ruth Doyle, says in The Independent that no retailer has been ranked above the company.

"No other retailer has been able to match Aldi's second place since the rankings were launched in 1999, and we're sure that graduates wishing to pursue a career in retail or management will seriously consider the opportunities on offer at Aldi," she says.
